The services and professionalism of the staff here are exceptional. The minute you walk in, you are warmly greeted. This spa is a high end luxury establishment so if you are looking to get what you pay for you will be thrilled. There is a spa food menu for lunch if you are so inclined as well as a fruit and beverage bar. There are sections for both genders which is nice. The treatment rooms are spacious, very clean, and well appointed. The relaxation room is a bit small but relaxing all the same. There are excellent microdermabrasion and medical-grade upkeep offerings as well as milder facial and body work such as massage, makeup application, the salon, and mani pedi areas. The steam room is not to be missed. It is good sized and truly restorative. I highly recommend Red Door for any relaxation or aesthetic needs. Enjoy!
I booked a package for signature services and my favorite was the massage. Jill is amazing, providing a deep tissue massage that really worked out the stress. After 50 minutes of relaxation bliss it was off to the relaxation room for a refreshing beverage and brief wait until Terri came in to get me for the pedicure. That too was quite relaxing and included a scrub, callus treatment, paraffin and reflexology massage. Up to now everything was at a nice relaxing pace. Once I hit the salon, things moved to warp speed and down hill quickly. My stylist gave me a quick shampoo and blow dry in about 20 minutes and then I was off to wait for another 20 minutes for the next service. Then there was the hair style. Although I gave her creative freedom, I was not impressed with the final look which was tussled, uneven and made me look like I just had a 1960's wash and set! There were no finishing products used and I really was not a fan of the overall outcome. The final step was the make-up refresher, which too was quick but it did look very nice. Since I had received a product package for the Holiday, Lauren took care to show me ways to use the products. I had some money left on my gift certificate but opted to purchase product in lieu of planning a return visit. I would recommend for a massage or nail treatment but the Salon is quite overpriced for the outcome.
My husband and I went here for a couples weekend. We received a couples massage (red door signature) and pedicures ( again, red door signature). We throughly enjoyed them all! They offer super soft robes and sandals to wear during your stay. The employees are super friendly, knowledgable and know their jobs very well! The only thing negative I would say is that it is a pricey endeavor but still worth it! You also have access to their steam rooms & pool.
Samantha, the manager, is awesome and will go out of her way to make your experience perfect. I've had a massage and pedi's there...plan to spend most of the day to take advantage of the relaxation!
Started with a massage with Tara and may I say it was WONDERFUL!! If you get a chance to book with Tara definitely do so. Followed up with a facial and manicure that were equally lovely. Definitely get what you pay for.
Wonderful massages and facials!! I love getting here every opportunity that I can get! Ultimate relaxation and just one of my favorite getaways to relieve stress and feel like myself again!! Love the service and the spa!
My wife and I booked a couple's massage on a birthday Valentine's Day get away weekend. The online booking application wasn't complete or accurate and we had to call to get what we wanted. The name Elizabeth Arden, the website, the write ups all implied something special. Pretty average is what we got...a pretty expensive average at that. The massage was listed as 50 minutes. Closer to 40 at best is what we got. You could hear the kids playing in the hotel pool area next door. That doesn't do much for ambiance and tranquility. We have been to many wonderful spas. This one just didn't match up.
Booked the day of because I went on a whim, and it was great! With my 50 minute Swedish I had access to a co-ed relaxation room that had kcups for tea and coffee as well as apples biscotti and lemon water. There was also a small spa menu and seating for those who want to order something a little more filling. Each locker room has lockable lockers a steam room showers, toilets shaving and hair supplies as well as robes, towels and sandals. The service gives you access to the hotel pool and fitness center which are both fairly big for a hotel of this size. Nicole was my masseuse and she did a really great job. I'd call it the second best massage I've ever had, and I go every couple of months! Prices are on par for what you get and the front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Only two complaints, I wish there was water available in the locker rooms for when you exit the steam room and the steam room didn't have a drain and although the seating and walls were cleaned thoroughly the floor suffered from being under water constantly. If you are in town for one of the casino's give it a go.
We have availed ourselves of relaxing massages here several times over the past few years while vacationing and staying at the Marriott Mystic. The services provided are always high quality, and you do pay high prices. The facilities are very nicely done, however the space overall is probably just too small. There is a "relaxation area" that was too crowded and noisy on this last visit to even enjoy it. The locker rooms are tight but fine, and there is a steam room but no sauna. The only hot tub is located outside the spa with the hotel pool, which is disappointing since it's often crowded with children.
My husband and I went there for my birthday for a couples massage. The providers were a little late picking us up from the waiting area. The massage was great but it just didn't seem like an 80 minute massage, more like a 60 minute.I was disappointed that there were no sauna but the jacuzzi made up for it. We will probably give this place one more shot.
Had a nice facial with Jennifer. Area was very clean and nice. Front desk staff very nice too. Had hair colored as well and was offered a 62 dollar product I declined. Overall nice place.
I have received a gift certificate for a facial and pedicure for Christmas for the last few years. It has always been a wonderful and relaxing experience. All of the staff have always been excellent. I look forward to using my gift certificate this year.
I went to the red door spa in Groton yesterday and I have been there before and it is always an enjoyable experience. I do get messages elsewhere but every now and then I like to enjoy the whole experience. the staff is very pleasant working to be sure all your needs are attended to. the relaxation room is nice and comfortable and then the masseuse comes to get you. I had Zida for a 50 min deep tissue and she did an exceptional job! after I utilized the pool and fitness center then before I was done spent some time in the steam room. it was a great day. again a little pricey but I'd say its worth it!
I went their on a girl's getaway weekend and paid $125 for a 50 min. massage which is way too expensive for what it was. The technician was goo which is why I am giving the place an average instead of poor. The relaxation room was 0% relaxing with people coming in and out, including someone who came in from outside, sat down to eat a giant sandwich!!!??? Another guy said he lived in the area, used the hotel health club, and started chatting us up in the relaxation room. People came in their street clothes looking around for friends, and being disruptive. I would not visit again.
I am very glad I didn't read the other ratings before visiting this spa! I am also guessing that if you go during a busy time there might be issues but I didn't go during spa week so didn't find any similar issues.I had a few services. First was a manicure with Ashley. She is friendly and very competent. She took a lot of time with me and my hands and nails look amazing. Besides the cuticle work, paint and hand massage she also used a scrub on my hands that made them very soft then used parafin. It was great. All of the staff in that area seemed very friendly and cheerful. Next I had an 80 minute hot stone massage. I had never had a massage with hot stones before and I loved it. Steve is a fantastic therapist that listened and responded to what I needed. It was one of the best massages I have ever had and there was no digging or discomfort at all. It was all realaxation. My last service was a facial with Renate. Renate is a soft spoken woman that very quickly diagnosed my skin and adjusted the service to suit what I needed. My face feels very smooth and I plan on going back to see her again next month. All of that said, she was sweet and very caring during the facial making sure none of the therapies were making me uncomfortable.I encountered Emily and Haley on the front desk and both were friendly, courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this establishment. Every service was a great experience.
