Interesting place to visit. Many unique food items ready to take home and enjoy. Be careful of the premade fruit baskets..Once made they sit for lengthly periods. Once opened at home or gifted you may find the quality has deteriorated and some products not fit for consumption.
I love coming to Bishops to buy produce. They also have a great selection of specialty foods. I also enjoy doing the pick your own apples. They also have wine tastings and a variety of events during the year.
Seriously, when did bishops get so chintzy? And the prices are thru the roof on produce. Not the same place I remembered. Suddenly everything is NYC prices
Enjoying stopping by to pick up local produce and unusual veggies...they have manyprepared items and some great breads. Their bakery is limited but excellent. I knowthat have pick your own fruits in season, which I haven't done, but know that it is welldone!
This is a grocery store. I was expecting a winery with a nice wine tasting area. The wine tasting is situated at the back of the grocery store (which is freezing!), the staff are not well trained, know nothing about the wines except for the fruit they're made from. The wine was ok, but we were overall very disappointed with this experience. If you're looking for a grocery store with local products, then this is probably a good place, but it is not a traditional winery! And bathrooms are disgusting.
compared to many other orchards in ct, vt, ma and throughout new England this is one of the highest priced ones. I love their wine so we do venture here every now and then. during our last visit , our cashier was really having a bad day, no greeting, no thank you, huffed when I asked to double bag a very heavy grocery bag, not a smile to be seen. we can visit and recommend many other orchard stores such as this where friendly service is a must and prices are lower.
Bishops Orchards is a vibrant family business that offers gorgeous produce and products, lovely wine and fun for children. If you're looking to pick your own fruits( seasonal) or journey to a wonderful shopping experience for your eyes and your palate, you've got to stop at Bishops. The staff are friendly, knowledgable, helpful and happy. A must:)!
Took another couple to their first wine tasting and we thought we would take them to Bishops because we had heard good things and there was other activity there. We were extremely disappointed. The wine tasting was in the back of the grocery store. It was crowded and disorganized. The wine wasn't even that good. Will not go back - wasted trip and money spent
Went mostly for the wine tasting. For $7.50 you'll be able to sample about 8 different wines and you'll even get a glass. If you purchase 3 bottles of wine, you'll receive a discount as well. The wine was decent but the crowds were rude. Went on a BUSY Sunday afternoon and people just kept bumping into each other. The prices of the food items in the store are overpriced. I'd go once to try it out, but that's about it.
Bishop's has ALWAYS been my go to place for apple picking. They are the only orchard around that has Braeburn trees. I love the wagon rides and the cider donuts and kettle corn. The market is nice(although I would love to see some healthier pastries made). The fruit wine is not really my thing, but it's nice they sell other local wines as well. Last year they had an outstanding corn maze , which made it worth the exorbitant price. This year, although the price hadn't changed, the maze was a joke-it only took our family 8 minutes to go through the whole thing! Certainly not worth our $24 Bishop's seems to be growing too rapidly and is losing some of its charm in the process. Bishop's-please keep your country charm and quality standards!
Enjoyed the wine tasting at Bishops. The gal did a nice job explaining the various wines. I purchased a wrap to bring home for dinner. Bishops has a nice store too!!
Let me start by saying, more of an orchard and farmer's market than a winery. The wine tasting isn't labeled and when we asked a market worker, she said, "down the dairy aisle and take a left." It's literally inside the grocery store. The grounds were very pretty. They had pumpkins and llamas!!!!!! It was clean, and pleasant, but I wouldn't call it a winery. Our host was great. She was very pleasant. But, sadly, the wine was not good. Good thing the tasting was only $7.50.
I went to Shoreline wine festival in August and did a wine tasting at the bishops table and wasn't really impressed. I decided to give it another shot and I went last week. I have never done a wine tasting in a grocery store before..... Now I can say that I have. Don't get me wrong the wines have amazing fruit smells and some taste great, but others taste like watered down juice. Depending on what employee you get that day, you might be in for a treat when it comes to talking about the wine.
Visited here during the shoreline wine festival sponsored by Bishop Orchards. The wine festival was disappointing. Very expensive to enter.. $35 to taste wine, $10 non taster. If you are a taster, long lines,,,very long to get a little taste in your glass. The vendors were ok...nothing too exciting, rather ho hum. Lots of jewelery....and more........ Lindt outlet that wanted to sign up new customers with shopper card. Not what I had expected at all. There were some food trucks--which was neat, but you paid extra for anything you bought from the trucks. There were a few tents you could sit under, but not enough. Hot with very little shade, making you food truck purchase not too pleasant to sit in the hot sun and eat;. After the festival visited the store. This store had a lot of nice specialty items that I will definitely return for. It was a reason to try the store. The festival left me feeling overcharged for very little.
A bit overpriced. It had so much fresh food to choose from. Fruits, vegetables, baked goods such as pies, donuts, and bread. It has a section for wine tasting.
