I had such a great time on the bike/boat tour along the CT shoreline that I am going to make it an annual event. I have never seen such beautiful scenery: ocean views, historic and ocean view homes, salt marshes, birds. The guides are a wonderful couple who are passionate about cycling and sharing the history of the area. The boat captain had a great sense of humor. After the bike tour, the guides pointed out great local restaurants and events. Guildford was within a 3-hour drive of Albany, NY with rest stops.

I purchased this bike tour for my boyfriend's birthday after reading all of the positive reviews, and I am happy to report the tour not only lived up to, but exceeded my expectations. The bike tour itself takes you on a gorgeous path along the CT shoreline with amazing views along the way. We also stopped at various points along the route to learn more about the area and what we were seeing. Mark and Marianne clearly love the area and know a lot about it, so it was great to have them leading the way and sharing their knowledge. They are also very friendly and great to talk to, and able to cater the tour to the ability-level of the riders. The boat ride through the Thimble Islands was a great addition to the tour- informative but also funny and of course very pretty. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is able to ride a bike reasonably well and it is well worth every dollar.

My husband and I did a bike/boat tour with Mark and Marianne last weekend--a gorgeous Saturday in October--and had a really wonderful time. We have been cyclists for about 5 years and had done some riding in the area but Mark and Marianne definitely know some excellent, less traveled and absolutely gorgeous routes!! We were riding with a couple of people who were very new to cycling and they had a great time as well since our leaders were terrific at accommodating both sets of riders. The boat trip through the Thimble Islands was fun and informative as well. My brother had given us a gift certificate and I can't say enough what an awesome present it was!!

I purchased this bike tour for my dad as a Father's Day gift since he's an avid biker. We had an excellent time! The pace was leisurely and the ride was absolutely beautiful. Mark and Maryanne couldn't have been nicer and knew tons about the area we toured. They'll bike as fast or as slow as you'd like, so it's great for people of all fitness levels, not just cyclists. There are some great spots to take photos along the way and the cruise of the Thimble Islands was a nice break during the ride. I highly recommend to anyone looking for something fun to do during the summer.

Great trip, so glad I did this! So this is where all of those quaint towns situated on the CT shoreline can be found! Loved the scenery, the ride was just right--some rolling hills to keep things a bit challenging, but nothing too strenuous. The boat ride to and through the Thimble Island homes was the 'icing on the cake.' A must do if you are anywhere near this area.

I can't think of a better way to experience CT's coastline!

i can't think of anything i would change about yesterday's excursion with CTBikeTours. Marianne and Mark are wonderful guides/hosts/coaches/people and really look out for each rider. and the trip itself! guilford is gorgeous and i still can't believe the thimble islands even exist... just amazing. the bikes we were provided with were great, and already set up for us (Mark asked for the heights of our riders when we registered) so other than going over the gears, rules of the road, there wasn't a lot of wasted time getting started. we were three women of "a certain age" with different levels of fitness and we all enjoyed ourselves. i would (and have already) recommended to my friends and i'm already looking at my calendar to plan another trip with CTBikeTours this summer.

We took a tour of the Connecticut shoreline near Guilford CT. We started in the center of town at the historic Guilford green and wound along quiet streets to beautiful shoreline vistas. Our guides Mark and Maryanne were very attentive to our cycling abilities and adjusted the trip to match us perfectly. The stunning scenery and perfect weather relieved us of our stress. The trip included a ferry tour of the thimble islands which gave us a fun view into a different lifestyle. We have done self-guided cycling tours in the past but this was far better. We didn't need to worry about the best route, there was always an entertaining history lesson at each stop, and every technical challenge was handled easily and professionally.After a good ride we enjoyed a late lunch of fresh fish at a local restaurant recommended by Maryanne.

What a fantastic bike ride to the Thimble Islands. Marianne and Mark are fantastic guides. They could not have been nicer or more patient with the slowest rider of the group (Me!). Mark took the time to teach me how to correctly shift gears. It was a joyful ride that stayed with me for days! Highly recommend to anyone that really enjoys biking. The views of the sound are absolutely breathtaking.I will be back with my daughters ages 18 and 20, ASAP!Thank you Mark and Marianne

Perfect way to spend a Saturday morning! The couple that run this excursion do a wonderful job from top to bottom! They make sure everyone has fun while making sure everyone is safe. Wether you are an expert or a novice, you'll enjoy this tour. From sightseeing and learning local history while biking some of the great coastal roads of Connecticut, your two guides show you how riding a bike is a great way to explore new places! Also, be sure to take the boat ride around the Thimble Islands! It is a 45 min ride around the various islands and the guide on this is great as well. He's Captain Bob of the Volsunga IV. As a novice biker I had never done a bike tour before this, but I'll definitely do this again! It was a blast. The twenty miles was actually relaxing. The gentle hills of the coast were so picturesque, as were the flat lands of the marshes. We took several rest stops along the way where Mark, one of the guides and business owners, would tell us about the local history or the local environment. Knowing a little bit about my surroundings made me an even bigger fan. Mark and Marianne are the perfect guides. Whether helping a biker up a hill or passing out snacks and water, they went way out of their way to make sure everyone was comfortable and having an enjoyable ride. Towards the end of the ride we took a ferry ride around the Thimble Islands. The breeze from bay with the scenery was a perfect combination. Who even knew all of this was in CT?This was a great way to spend time with friends, see a beautiful part of CT and go on a bike ride. I would definitely recommend this!

I couldn't have asked for a better activity on a gorgeous Saturday morning than a bicycle tour of Connecticut's picturesque shoreline. Mark and Marianne were gracious and friendly hosts; they made us feel immediately at ease - as if we had known them for years. I have gorgeous pictures and memories that will last a lifetime!
