A lovely Greek Revival bldg., architect Robert Mills, filled with a variety of whaling, lighthouse, Revolutionary and War of 1812 artifacts as well as a very well informed docent by the name of Mr. Bill LaRoue. The Amistad History is well documented in an upstairs room. Mr. LaRoue offered numerous verbal histories and presented photos, documents and maps during his "tour".A restroom and gift shop are within the bldg. Located on Bank Street which affords the waterfront view of the Thames River. I did not see any reference to being accommodating for physically disabled persons. Memberships are available and there are quite a variety of meetings and specialty events offered and held at this location as well as within the community. An active customs office is present albeit not daily staffed. What is confusing, for me, is the official Tripadvisor name; a tripadvisor sticker is on the front door. Hours are : Tues.-Sunday: 1-5 pm. $5 Located with walking distance of Amtrak train station, area public bus stops (SEAT) and ferry docks. Public parking garage is also in walking distance.
