haystack mountain state park

We drove to the top of park and hiked he rest of the way up. Easy enough trail...about 20 -30 mins. When you get to the top there is an old lookout that has he most beautiful views! Well worth the quick hike.

Easy one hour hike from Norfolk. Wonderful views from the top. Took a different path down. A beautiful part of the world.

we love going hiking here on weekends. the hike is so easy and is a great way to kill an hour or two. great hike for kids.

We live across from this park so know it intimately. Great for vigorous biking and walking. Nice pond that has stickleback nests in the spring. Edwardian view tower at the top - magnificent views.

This is one of the best views around, and the hike is only about a quarter mile long, with no steep incline. Highly suggested.

Drive up the winding mountain road until it dead ends at the base of the "real" mountain and then start your hike. Trails are marked according to difficulty. Wear good hiking shoes--lots of climbing but it's worth it. A beautiful stone tower is at the top (recently hit by lightning and rebuilt to it's full former glory) with 360 degree views of Norfolk, CT, MA, Canaan Valley and NY State. Bring your camera.

Haystack Mountain offers a lovely hike to the top, where you will find an old stone tower to climb. The reward is 360' panorama including CT, MA, and NY states.

Since there are two trails to the tower at the top of the mountain, this is a wonderful place to visit for most ability levels. I came here for a little challenge, and took the long trail. It wasn't terribly difficult, and the summit was great. I came back with my young son and took the short trail, giving him the chance to enjoy the summit himself. It didn't disappoint. Don't forget your cameras, or your childish sense of wonder!
