Best theater on the Connecticut Coastline in a nice small town with shops and restaurants. The theater is small which makes the experience unique with comfortable seats. You can take your drinks into the theater and enjoy the show. The volunteer staff are friendly and the shows include musicians, simulcast from the MET and of course Katherine's movies. Don't miss it!
Great small venue to be up and close to the show - not a bad seat in the house! You can order wine etc before the show and during - nice evening out while supporting a great venue. People are friendly and helpful.
This is such a lovely theater and I wish I had more time to attend functions there. The classic movie showings, the simulcast of the Met, and live stage as well as musicians.I'm not a follower of popular groups, singers, etc. I did go see Michael Buble at Mohegan Sun Casino in CT and hated the venue. It's too big, you have sit sideways, it's definitely a sports arena and terrible for stage. I don't think I'd ever go again. On the other hand, The Kate is wonderfully intimate and I doubt there's a bad seat. Staff is so nice, ladies room spotless, free parking in the streets (but watch the signage, there are restrictions), you'd have to make an effort to not enjoy an event here.I've been more than once because I live nearby. Top your evening off with numerous choices to eat before or after.
Comfortable seats and good views of the Stage and a very Friendly Staff. There is plenty of free parking on the streets. There are place near by for a meal or a quick bit...
National stars come to this playhouse and give us a taste of the big city! Wonderful place for friends to meet and enjoy a relaxing evening out.
Having attended this venue on multiple occasions, I find it to be small and intimate when seeing a show. From Ed Asner in a one man show on FDR, or a tribute to John Lennon to children's theatre Cinderella we have no complaints. It's worth the trip to see something at The Kate!
Great venue to see a show. Yo can get pretty up close and intimate. Good parking, good restaurants/bars nearby to walk to before or after show. Can clear seats in front for dance floor. Serve wine in intermission. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing, though simple - but tasteful.
Great theatre with an ever interesting line up of shows. The staff are very friendly and the space is small so every seat is a good one! If you're in town check out one of their shows. You wont be disappointed.
This is lovely space in a converted building on Main Street. There is a great display of Kate memorabilia in the lobby because she summered nearby. Friendly staff. A triumph of small theatre/live music.
They do it all - comedy, music, and drams from the famous to the relatively unknown, punctuated by screenings of Katherine Hepburn films. Go on line to check out the schedule - there is something for everyone.
nicely renovated, this intimate venue is a great local stop for an entertaining night out. It helps that it's so close to home!
Beautiful small theater with many shows, mostly musicians. Some Katherine Hepburn old movies during the week.Nice little museum...right on Main Street with eateries. You will love it!
After its 1000 th show, THE KATE has proven itself as a huge success and is here to stay!! This charming venue offers an intimate experience for patrons with talented artists and a very friendly staff willing to accommodate and make your night out a true celebration. Ticket prices are reasonable. Don't miss it!!
My husband and I have had the pleasure of seeing several shows at The Kate. Every seat is excellent in the small theatre, the balcony included. The sound has always been excellent as we have seen several musical acts here, and an excellent sound system is very important! There is a little museum of sorts in honor of Kate. There are beverages available to purchase which you may bring into the theatre. There are plenty of friendly staff to help you find your seat. The entire building is very clean. It makes a perfect evening to have dinner, walk the streets of Old Saybrook and enjoy the shops, then take in a show. It is a treat we enjoy often.
A beautiful small theater with varied high quality programming. No bad seats - believe it! Friendly, helpful staff. Varied musical and dramatic offerings as well as simulcast of live performances from the Met. Great sound system. Easy access, clean facility. a pleasure to visit - reasonable prices. Check the listings if you are coming to town, or plan a visit for dinner and a show. Well worth it.
