So- this place can get pretty crowded on the weekends when it's warm out. Most families head to the bigger area. There is a little cove off to the right near where the boats dock that is less sometimes less crowded- and I immediately regret typing that because now you're all going to go there...
Cove Island Park is a large park and good for walking, running, bike riding and roller blading. The beach is terrible, it is rocky and dirty and the Long Island Sound water is gross. The grass in the park is dead, dry and definitely not luscious. The playground is broken down. Check out Jones' Beach in Long Island.
Wow....jet lagged on a business trip I was able to run at Dawn and this is a most beautiful place.Free parking at that time of day ( and maybe always free) made a very enjoyable 40 mins each morning
We like to walk over and enjoy the beach, photography opportunities, birding, hiking, bbq's with friends/family, etc. There is something for everyone.
some of the best memories are my life are of cove island. i was born deaf and the first plase i heard the waves were there. i was 6 when i heard for the first time. i learned to swim there.
Such a nice destinate to hang out with your family and enjoy the beach. Has nice views. The place to order food could use a bit of improvement and updating.
Visiting Cove Island Park in Stamford Connecticut was a very wonderful experience. It is family orientated with plenty of space and beautiful scenery.Barbecue, swim, bike ride, walk, jog, and roller blading are the things to do. Even canoeing is available with a fine view of the Long Island Sound. The grass is clean, no Canadian geese to see. Dogs are allowed and they are picked up after. Non-residents parking is $20.00, which I find reasonable. The park is well kept and peaceful. It is a nice getaway.
Run here regularly, nicest beach in Stamford, good picnic areas. To avoid paying to park, take the bus from Downtown Stamford.
Excellent park cum beach. Both of them are well maintained. Very good for walkers, joggers, bicyclists, kids playground, picnicking, boating and many more activities.
The beach area was very lovely and the sand white and clean. The pavilion with food stand was very basic and not very appetizing. Non-residents pay $20 for admission, very high for an Ok spot on the water.
There are trees in some spots, of course. On the side, for grilling and picnic. However most of the land is unshaded, sun-burned, the playground is in the open as well, no tree there. The beach is quite wide, but a little depresing with the dirt colored sand and water full of seaweed. The 3 stars are for the train going around the park, it's cute and fun for little ones.
convenient to home and plenty of parking. we enjoy the views and ability to walk around park. Great picnic facility.
Beach was clean and had lots of space for picnicking. Lots of pretty rocks and found some sea glass. Good area for pic taking.
This park is located right on the water and has a running track, (maybe 1 mile). I spent a day there at the beach and running while visiting Stamford, it is a great park
Great place to breathe fresh air by the water . Relax at the ice rink watching children skate or go for a brisk walk around the park. Great water views !!
