For another few weeks, visiting WHS and enjoying the many New Yorker covers drawn by Westport artists, together with excellent and detailed information about the artists themselves, should be on your list if you're nearby. The presentation is very well done, and the low key WHS staff is helpful when wanted. Reading about John Hersey's full issue about Hiroshima is well worth the time, and the gift shop has many unique and appealing items as well.

I love the amazing speakers, authors and programs that this place puts on for various holidays and events.

For a small town's historic society this is an ambitious resource well run by its Director. From local house and garden tours to exhibits of famous Westporters and others,and a permanent CT stone wall and barn exhibit, WHS well-serves locals and offers great children's activities at certain times of year.
