I was pleasantly surprised by this museum at the Keeney Center. It's simple but has a lot of information about Wethersfield history and a good combination of items, exhibits and text. We went on weekday morning and were the only ones there. I think lots of people don't even know it exists, but its worth a quick visit if you have the time.Nice staff

We read about Westfield and the museum in the UK and when we travelled over on holiday we visited. I have to say I have never met a more friendly and genuinely nice group of people. The museum staff were fantastic! What a privilege it was to find out about this town and it's people and meet such dedicated staff. We arrived 20 mins before closing time and the staff did everything humanly possible for us to see everything. I don't want to say exactly what they did as anyone reading this may expect the same but it was totally above and beyond the call of duty and humbling how nice these people were to two strangers. The museum was fascinating. To anyone in the UK who watches grand designs or is interested in architecture this town is an absolute gold mine of fantastic buildings. The museum tells the story of the town and its people and is interesting for all ages with costumes for kids to try on, draws for kids to open to see what's inside etc. If your in Connecticut it is a must see, small but fascinating. We particularly liked the civil war exhibits and the letters from loved ones to their husbands and fathers fighting in the war. Thank you to the staff of the museum for making us feel so welcome and doing so much for us. I would urge everyone to visit the museum it really is a lovely fascinating place.

The Wethersfield Museum is a great site depicting many exhibits for all ages. At the current moment, the exhibits on display are: Love Letters and Uniforms: Wethersfield During the Civil War, Wethersfield Weddings: Tying the Knot, Wethersfield Service Men, and Legendary People, Ordinary Lives. Admission to the museum is $5 per person, $4 for AAA members, and free for Wethersfield residents. Hours are 10 - 4 p.m. Tuesday - Sunday. In addition to this site, The Wethersfield Historical Society also has the following properties for viewing: The Hurlbut – Dunham House Museum, The Cove Warehouse, and The Captain James Francis House Museum. Throughout the year, you can also find walking tours available to the public; such as the tour of the Ancient Burying Ground. Reservations are highly recommended.

My husband and I visited the museum on a whim and what a nice surprise. Friendly and very helpful staff. We spent so much time just talking to them at the front desk and felt like we were with old friends. The curator, Rachael is full of enthusiasm and energy. We were there while they were setting up for a fundraiser, but they still had time to welcome us and make us feel at home. I plan on going back. We were in jeans and casually dressed, so in response to timblosser's post, I don't think it really matters what you look like.

We were looking forward to visiting the museum, but when we came into view of the volunteer, we got the distinct impression that he was put out by our appearance. Our sincerest apology for inconveniencing you!!
