I visited the WHS a few times on school trips and on my own many years ago for the first time and then I decided to volunteer there. For the last 5 years I have helped with the school programs for 2nd grade, 4th grade and 5th grade. This is the best gig in town (and even NE!). They have an several historic homes/buildings (from the 1700's) that are connected which they moved so the museum is all in one place. The barn is filled with an amazing collection of old tools. There is a blacksmith house and a collection of old toys and furnished dollhouses like no other. This is a great place for families, singles, older folks...They have all kinds of programs from knitting, to old fashioned game day, to gingerbread decorating at Christmastime, to a reenactment of . Come in see the GREAT TRAINS during the holidays-you will be amazed!! This is a gem and I am so happy it is in my backyard. There is so much to do so come and spend a day here! You will surely want to come back again and again.
