This was our first wine-tasting experience so I don't have anything to compare it to but we had a great time at Bluestone! The staff was very friendly, answering every question. I really enjoyed our time there and can't wait for our next visit! Even in winter the place was beautiful!
The tasting room is a little smaller than other wineries, but the staff are great here and they made the tasting fun. Wine was good and it looks likes a fun place to drink wine in the summer due to their beautiful outdoor space.
Last night we went to the Southern Nights Holiday Wine Makers Dinner. The star of the show was the 2009 Southern Nights red wine they served with the main course of steak or venison. It was soft and supple, with a full mouth, tasting of cloves and cinnamon, one of the best VA red wines I have ever had the pleasure to drink. One problem, there were no extra bottles to take home! We were there to drink the last few cases with a celebratory dinner. The other food and wine pairings were great as well with southern inspired dishes paired with new release white wines that were also very good. The dinner is served in the tasting room/basement of the owners home, a beautiful setting in the Blue Ridge Mtns. A special night out, worth the drive from No VA.
Bluestone recently opened their new tasting room in the basement of the owner's home. It has the most fabulous view of any winery I've been to. You can easily see yourself and friends having a glass of wine while watching the sunset. We enjoyed the wine, and the lady who did the winetasting was knowledgeable. We visited the vineyard on our own, but we had signed up for a wine seminar and winemaker's dinner at our vacation resort. Imagine our surprise when the winemaker was from Bluestone. So, we were able to taste wines that were outside of our "typical" wine selections. We thought most of the wines were great, and a few that weren't to our tastes were loved by others. Bluestone has a variety, so you're sure to find a wine that you love. This family-owned vineyard takes customer service seriously. I recommend visiting the tasting room on a day when you can take time to savor a glass of wine and the beautiful view. It won't disappoint!
Only 1/2 mile from Bridgewater. Excellent small winery with music & food events most wknds. Great wine selection to enjoy at there peaceful country setting.
While on a recent stay in Virginia, we visited Bluestone Winery in Bridgewater, and were not disappointed. This winery is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge/Appalachian mountians, and has spectacular views. They have recently opened a new tasting room, which is in the lower portion of the main house, but don't be fooled - it is magnificent! They offered a full variety of wines for tasting, had a little gift area, some excellent chocolates made by a local, and a beautiful patio for sipping a glass or two and a picnic lunch. A few others came in for tastings while we were there, and the owner himself jumped in to help and served us well! We bought several bottles of wine, each in our party bought a glass to enjoy on the patio, and we brought our own crackers and cheese, which was encouraged by the owner. It was an excellent fall day spent with our daughter and husband, who had never experienced a winery before. We will definitely return next time we are back in the area.
We visited the new tasting room at Bluestone today, lots of room and still the same great service as before. This was our second visit since Bluestone opened several years ago. The tasting were a little pricey but they spanned over all their wines, red and whites, and the offer to visit some twice was always there. They had several sweet and dry varieties, some very bold and some lighter. We liked it so much we left with a case! Some of this will be for Christmas presents and some for an upcoming party we have planned.
We were exploring around the vicinity of Bridgewater VA and came across the Blue Stone Winery. The winery has only been open just under four years, but already boasts a number of award winning wines. The had a number of very good reds, my favorite one they called Cadenza. My wife and I were the only ones in the tasting room that day (right after Labor Day). We were treated to exceptional service and conversation. This will become a frequently stopped at tasting room.
My husband and I stopped by as part of a days wine tasting tour.Super easy to find, just a few miles off the highway. A beautiful little tasting room and super friendly, non-snobby staff.Great wines and a well priced tasting. We actually shared one tasting for the two of us and they had no problems doing that. Apparently the tasting room is going to be moving to the house higher up the hill. When (if?!) that happens it will be a superb location with amazing views
You can't go wrong with a sweet aromatic wine named after the winery's dog. A beautiful vineyard producing some of the best wines in the Shenandoah Valley.
The view is amazing! The gal doing the tasting was super nice. Would have liked something like a cracker to eat in between tastings. You can choose from white or red tastings or both. You get to taste about 8 wines for $6 . We ended up taking home two bottles. Fun!
The lady who was serving us was awesome, not a wine snob which was nice for my beer drinking son! She didn't frown when he ate too many crackers! Nice variety of wine and by the wine by son did like the "beer lovers wine" which was their traminette. Took a bottle home for my GF who only drinks beer and she loved the "hoppy" nose! Enjoyed being able to bring our own food and sit outside on picnic tables to enjoy the scenery!
This fairly new vineyard has made some remarkable strides with their wines. Add that to weekend music during the summer and beautiful landscaping, and now the new tasting room.. great place to spend the day and enjoy the delicious wines!
My wife and I did a chocolate pairing there this weekend and it was great! We have been here a few times and love the wine. We joined the Wine Club on this trip so that we will come back and visit more. I will say that their wines are exceptional and are very good from top to bottom. I would have rated them excellent overall but the tasting room was a bit crowded and small. My guess is that as they keep getting more and more popular they will expand that area. We will back many times because the quality of the wines is the most important piece!
The setting of this winery was perfect for our Fall visit. Staff was friendly and there wine was excellent. Had a wonder day with a new friend we met sharing a nice bottle of wine and a basket of cheese and crackers. Will return on our next visit
