OK, the bad stuff first. The only 'food' available is McDonalds. The museum is free, but parking is $15.Once you get in, the place is incredible. First, we went to the observation tower. It's a great view of Dulles airport from between the end of two parallel runways. Live air traffic control audio is constantly on the PA system. One floor down is a sample air traffic terminal. Don't waste your time there. The highlight are the two hangers full of amazing air and space craft. There are three levels of walkways. Check with the information desk for a map and suggestions for your walking route. You'll get up close and personal with the Discovery space shuttle, the Enola Gay, the first Boeing 707,the Concord and dozens of new and old aircraft. You can also observe the restoration shop. If you're into this stuff, it'll be hard to wipe the smile off your face. The other downside is that there's few opportunities to go into the craft. Would I go again? Yes.

We had a friend visit from Vietnam and I told her about the museum at the airport. We first visited the Smithsonian museum at the national mall in Washington DC. The next day I drove her out to this museum. She loved it. She thought the space shuttle and the SR 71 were absolutely fabulous. We spent three hours in the museum and watch a movie. She never got bored. I had been here twice before and I enjoyed this visit is much as the last two.

What a great museum this was even for toddlers. There is ample space to roam around and it never felt crowded even though we were there on a Saturday over Christmas break. Get there early to truly beat the mad rush of crowds. The museum is free but parking was about $15. It was amazing to see some of the worlds finest airplanes in this hangar and mind blowing to see part of a space shuttle. It was a great time for the whole family. I wish we had more time when we went and it's one of those museums that will never get old. In addition to the planes on the museum floor there are planes in the restoration part of the facility that you can see being put back together. Truly a one of a kind experience.

Just to clarify: This is NOT to be confused with the Air and Space Museum in Downtown Washington, D.C. The Udvar-Hazy Center is located near Dulles Airport. Even those who are less than interested in air travel will find the wide-ranging assemblage of aircraft here downright splendid. Additionally, visitors can watch vintage planes being restored, can watch planes landing on the main runways at Dulles Airport, can watch IMAX movies and the list goes on.

Dislike, the $15 admission to park a car, yes you get to go to the museum, but would rather go with several people than myself or with one child. Like, the last Space Shuttle to fly in space. We were able to see it fly over Dulles Airport on its final voyage, which was awesome. Also like the Concorde. Would be cool to be able to see inside some of the larger planes, but it's very interesting to see all of the different planes they have in there, and the space wing is really cool. Both of my kids enjoy going there. The highlight, is going up in the tower and being able to watch the planes take off and land from Dulles.

Even with the parking fee, it was a great experience. Kids had a blast - especially the kid who had just learned about WWII. The Enola Gay was neat, plus the HUGE space shuttle. We only had a couple of hours, so we were in a rush, but next time (and there will be a next time) we'll stay longer!

This is a great family destination. We saw relics from WWI, WWII, Space Shuttles, all sorts of memorabilia and more. We also saw a great aviation movie at the IMAX theatre (extra fee) and visited the 360 degree observation tower of Dulles Airport. My husband and I loved it (40s) for its history and relevance, kids (girls, ages 12 and 15) liked it.

Amazing exhibits - lifesize and real aircraft, etc.. So special to see the actual planes, space travel, helicopters, etc.. Keeps everyone interested at any age. Large enough that crowds can visit without a problem.

This immense space has the largest number of aircraft anywhere including space vehicles. Be sure to go when they have the plane pulling contests.

This is the best air and space museum that I have been to. It has more aircraft, more displays, amazing docents to provide tours and plenty of interesting things for kids of all ages. It out does the original Smithsonian with 4 times the floor space. It's more impressive than both the Seattle Air Museum or the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville, OR. Not that they aren't worth visiting but this place is spectacular. I especially liked the restoration area where one could see from the 2nd floor wall of glass down into the area where they were restoring at least four different aircraft. Plan at least 4-5 hours here to capture all there is. The only disappointing part of the entire visit was that the only eatery was McDonalds!!!
