What's better than FREE for a family outing? There are farm animals to see, a nice playground, and family pets are welcome! Can be crowded a bit on a nice weekend afternoon, but locals TAKE ADVANTAGE of this wonderful park. Out-of-towners: If you're in the area, it's a nice place to let the kiddos run out some energy from traveling without costing.

Frying Pan Park is a great place to spend a few hours with the kids. Their zoo/farm is fascinating for kids, the carousel is nostalgic, the farm store has lots of treats, they have hay rides, and picnic tables are available. They have seasonal activities, so check their web page for details http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/fryingpanpark/ We've been there a dozen times over the years; no complaints.

What a great experience for urban children! cows, ponies, chickens, turkeys, fields, a great museum and music venue, and special events don't get overcrowded. It's a win! Older kids might be bored, but the little ones will love it. Check out the general store! It's a blast from the past.

We take our grandchildren there quite often during the warmer months. They love to see the baby animals and the big tractors, and when tired of those, then there is a nice playground with a thing to climb all over (don't know what it's called). There is even a walking trail which ends up in a small waterfall. We have looked into the country store but the food items are too expensive. Excellent place for a picnic, kids' birthdays, and just a nice place to hang out with them.

Historic Park that is really beautiful and very well kept! It is one of my favorite places to visit!

Great place to take your kids or grandkids for a fun filled day, to see all the farm animals and ride the Merry go round play at the play ground, have an ice cream at the little farm store etc..

Great park for kids. They have animals to see-pigs, cows, horses… They have a hay ride and a merry-go-round you can pay for. The park is free to enter and walk. Great for a picnic!

This is a wonderful farm park set between a major roadway and lovely Virginia neighborhoods. It is hard to believe that the hustle and bustle of freeways and DC metro traffic is just a stone throw away. The farm is a wonderful opportunity for kids to see typical barnyard animals, go on a carousel ride or a on tractor pulled wagon ride. Equestrian competitions are frequently held and spectators are welcome. The outdoor and indoor concerts and jam sessions are a wonderful feature of the park too. A small concession store sells snacks and small gifts. A school house is still in use for day care and pre school. The only drawback is crossing the street to get to the farm park. There is no crosswalk from the neighborhood across the street to the entrance and at times, the traffic is very heavy. CAUTION must be used when trying to cross the street especially with children in tow.

Unusual park, featuring farm animals, tractor rides and kid activities, including carousel and playground. While the barnyard animals are always a hit with kids, springtime is best, with lots of newborn goats, lambs, cows.

Great rural/working farm in a beautiful part of Northern Virginia suburbia; very family friendly. if you get a chance catch the 4H competitions there and the small but hidden waterfall on the park grounds.

My daughter loved seeing all the animals and getting a little up close to the animals. She especially liked the old carousel.

We have visited many times- Saturday to see barrel racing competition. This is a beautiful place to bring your family. The park consists of Kidwell Farm, original farmhouse, a visitors center, large equestrian facilities, a county store, large merry go round, and more. So much to do and see here- horse shows, baby farm animals in the spring, healthy, well- cared for livestock, fowl, the list goes on. The park hosts bands and other shows at the visitors center. We love the fall festival with the opportunity for hands on farm work. The park has classes, summer camps, and accepts volunteers as well. The park is a special place made more so because, despite the development and pace in Northern Virginia, Frying Pan Park is a chance to go back in time and see living history.

A free park that focuses on farm life. There's farm animals to view: cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, etc. There's a small visitor center, a number of farm building, an indoor arena, stables, a small gift shop, and a playground. I would highly recommend going when they have events, e.g. spring/fall festival, cow milking, horse barrel racing, to maximize your experience. When we went volunteers were giving the fencing some TLC in preparation for the Fall Festival, and they were prepping the arena for horse barrel racing.

Frying Pan Park is a great place to see live farm animals within a short drive of Washington DC. Kids will love seeing all the different farm animals. There are cows, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys and peacocks on the farm. All during the year the animals give birth to little farm animals, which the kids love to see and interact with.During the year the farm also host events like the 4-H fair with rides and games. The 4-H kids display their animals and crafts at the fair. Also big at the farm are horse events, like jumping, dressage and barrel racing. Occasionally the farm host dog shows of varying breeds. All in all it is a fun place to visit, especially with kids. The kids enjoy the carousel rides as well as simply playing on old tractors parked by the barn. The park is free to all visitors with some additional fees for rides and events.
