I agree with the reviewer who said this is part zoo, part farm. It had unique animals. The driver who took us through on the "hay" ride was very informative and answered our questions. There was an open barn where you could pet the sheep and goats. We enjoyed watching the kid climb in and out of the kangaroos pouch.

Not a traditional zoo! There is an admittance fee. It is something of a cross between a farm and a zoo! The zoo type animals can be seen on a hayride through an open area! There you will see a variety of larger animals wandering loose. The barns and that area has goats that can be fed. Warning, these goats can be very pushy! There are also other animals and birds to see. There is also a small gift shop on the property. An easily accessible fun place to spend a few hours.

And my son, who has two children have their season pass. So they never tire of interacting with the farm and African animals. Very reasonably priced, nice gift shop and the small farm stand is a bonus.

Very accessible and low key. Staff are simply amazing and friendly. Animals are memorable and seemed very happy. Dr.Pepper was the highlight ;-)

This is always a great place for a family day-trip. Just make sure you time it so you get the wagon ride during your visit. The staff is great and always helpful and friendly. The gift shop tends to be a bit overpriced, but the animal feed is worth it if nothing else but to see your kid's reactions when the animals come right up to you to eat.

We had a age range from 63 to 15 months and everyone had a grand time. The place is perfect for little legs. There are a lot of resting areas and shade. The staff is polite and informative. It was the perfect afternoon.

Terrible customer service not honoring our entertainment book coupons for the kids after we drove 40 minutes to get there. Disappointing.

if your child is not six yet, two hours of a good time is guaranteed at this park. Prices are too high, but no crowds. Animals are clean and well maintained.

This small zoo is not near other major attractions but well worth the visit. I took my 8 year old granddaughter and both of us were enchanted. The Wagon Ride, on the hour, takes about 25 minutes, is a must. It is included in the price of admission. The wagon takes visitors into an enclosure where many exotic animals roam free. Several stops along the perimeter route allow passengers to feed and pet the animals. Pony Ride was fun for the 8 year old. The staff at both features were engaged, informed and informative, and very pleasant to us all. The petting areas are ample. Food to feed the animals is for sale at the gatehouse. It was hard to leave. Only complaint: no water fountains. Water for sale at the gatehouse or vending machine. Will definitely return, but will bring my own water.

A special experience for little ones and their accompanying adults. Many opportunities for interactive encounters, bottle feeding baby goats and sheep, kibble feeding for lots of other "farm" animals. Great bird feeding with a handheld seeded stick where birds will land on your hand to eat from the stick. Pony ride is totally tame -one child at a time, led around paddock one revolution-but a huge hit with the toddler set. The mixture of animals is unpredictable as you find a condor just around the corner from the domestic pig pen, creating an element of surprise. Although the National Zoo would be a first choice for serious and sophisticated zoo goers, the Reston zoo is perfect for children, and even animal loving adults. Excellent family outing!

Great zoo with opportunities for up close encounters with the animals. Wagon ride narrated by educated staff. Let us pet the animals and feed them. Can also feed and pet animals in petting barn. And make sure to feed the birds! So much fun. The also have swan-shaped paddle boats for rent on a small lake, but it was hot the day we visited, so we decided to skip those. Maybe next time!

The Reston zoo is a hard place to define. It certainly doesn't match the National Zoo in DC in terms of number and variety of animals. However, if you take the wagon ride (included in the entry fee) you'll get more up close and personal with the animals than you'll ever get at the National Zoo. Zebras, bison, antelope, watusi cattle, ostriches and emus will come up to the wagon seeking food. You'll also get a close up view of camels and llamas, but they are kept in an enclosed area. My grandson was delighted to pet some of the cattle and the bison. Over the years they've added more animals and have gone with the ones that are easier to maintain. They now have an enclosure for budgies. If you buy some bird food sticks as you come in, you'll literally have them feeding out of your hand. We spent a good half hour in this enclosure alone. The prairie dog area was another fun place. We enjoyed watching how active they were in the early morning hours. The zoo also has pony rides and paddle boats available for an additional fee. We actually didn't spend too much time in the petting zoo portion where you can feed the goats and lambs. There are separate picnic areas and some drinks and ice cream bars are available for purchase, but if you didn't bring lunch, you'll need to leave the zoo. If you're in the area and don't want the hassle of going downtown to the summer crowds at the National Zoo, this small zoo fits the bill.

My son enjoyed the day there but as he is 1.5 years old, i brought the stroller... Nearly threw my back out since more than half of the place is rocky gravel. Wheelchairs would not be able to get around. Overall it's a great "glorified petting zoo" for small children that could stand better access for all Americans.

Great little zoo to visit, the kids loved the petting zoo and the could feed the animals and bottle feed the babies, also the tractor ride was nice, not a lot of differnent zoo animals but still nice for the kids. Take a lunch cause they only have ice ream for sale when we were there.

I will agree with other reviewers that this zoo is waaay overpriced. It was over $50 for myself and three kids - including the added cost of two cups of food, 3 seed sticks and one bottle of milk. The kids LOVED it, though (ages 6, 4 and 2). The highlight of the trip for them was the tractor ride. Make sure you get to the station early as it fills up fast! Go on a weekday, if you can, because all the animals were stuffed to the point that they didn't want the food and milk being offered to them. Frustrating, given what we paid for it! Also, as per staff, all the animals are lazy and recovering from the weekend on Monday, so try for a Tuesday - Friday visit. All in all, Reston Zoo is a fun and convenient day trip, not having to travel into the city, but it will be only a once a year type of thing for my family due to the excessive cost.
