If you want a friendly and fun wine tasting experience, try Honah Lee. Brandy and Eric have created a unique spot that is not to be missed. Its a great place to spend a few hours and you won't leave empty handed! Jams, jellies, baked goods, local honey gifts and wine-- and everything is wonderful and reasonable priced!
My partner and I were staying in Orange, VA for a romantic weekend getaway this past weekend, and our innkeeper recommended that we stop by Honah Lee Winery (she said it is a guest favorite). We stopped by Honah Lee Winery late Saturday morning and spent nearly 1.5 lovely hours enjoying a relaxing and delicious wine tasting. Not only was the wine incredible, but Brandi's homemade jellies and hot sauces were out of this world!! Quinn was our awesome hostess and sommelier, and we had such an interesting conversation with her throughout the course of our tasting; her friendliness made us feel right at home. Brandi, Eric, and Quinn made both of us really feel very welcome, and we made sure to buy some of Brandi's amazing jams before we left! We visited 4 other wineries that weekend, but Honah Lee Winery was easily our favorite in terms of both wine and atmosphere. We will definitely be back again!
My husband and I visited Honah Lee while staying at Chestnut Hill Bed and Breakfast this weekend. The customer service here is excellent! We really enjoyed the wine tasting, especially the sampling of the homemade jams/jellies. We purchased almost every jam/jelly offered! We had a great time chatting with the owners during our visit! Some of the other wineries in the area seem to rush you through the tasting and this was not the case at Honah Lee! Very memorable experience!
We had just done the mega-tasting at Barboursville in an over-crowded though huge tasting room. So were VERY surprised to enter Eric and Brandy's rustic cozy tasting room and meet the owners. Not going to be rushed here! They offer tastings of Michael Shaps wines as well as Wellhung Vineyards because this family does not yet have their winery credentials. They grow grapes for other wineries and they know their stuff. Brandy offers tastes of her delicious jellies too. We came home with a bottle of her garlic jelly. In the summer, you could stop at their farm stand as well. We'd definitely recommend that wine fans stop in.
I have visited here a few times and every time it is a bright spot. They are currently tasting Michael Shaps wines as well as some of their home made goodies. Brandy is always an absolute delight. Make sure to pick up some homemade treats to take home with you.
Honah Lee Winery is just off Route 15 in Gordonsville, VA. It is a family run operation with very knowledgeable and friendly staff. A fun, inexpensive and convenient stop along Route 15 on your way through town.
