Walking into the cemetery on a beautiful, sunny fall day the colors and cool temps presented a truly reverent experience. Walking past old headstones and the slow falling of leaves the Stonewall Jackson grave stood in the midst of such peace. This is simply a place to ponder the man and his family in their final resting place. It is not a museum or place to learn about him, but his burial plot and memorial. Very serene & somber.

It is free to enter cemetery and wander around. We took the carriage ride before visiting cemetery and it gave us a good background to see what we were looking at.

While recently taking a town tour of Lexington, VA, my wife and I visited Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery on the edge of the town. It was easy to find Jackson’s grave because it is placed in the middle of the property, with a tall pedestal with a statue of Jackson on top and surrounded by a circular fence. The stature reminded me of the quote attributed to Confederate General Barnard Bee in trying to rally his troops at the Battle of First Manassas, “There stands Jackson like a stone wall.”My wife was fascinated that there were lemons inside the fence, based on an unsubstantiated fact that Jackson was continually eating and sucking on lemons, although no one could say from where Jackson got the lemons. (Sounds like an early “urban legend” to me.)As we were exploring the many rebel soldiers graves, many of which were adorned with the old Confederate cross, we stumbled upon the original gravesite of Stonewall and his family before he was disinterred and laced in the memorial site where he is now buried. Being a Civil War buff, I wish we had more time to explore the very interesting cemetery.

You cannot miss this statute and tombstone in the center of this cemetery. Great statute with markers for Stonewall Jackson and members of his family, wife, daughter, son in law and grandchildren. For more information of those buried here, pick up a brochure for 75 cents at the Jackson home bore visiting the cemetery.

This is a must see for any Civil War Buff. Very well respected area. Any one can come away feeling glad to have stopped to see one of the greatest Civil War Generals of all times.

The grave is in the middle of the cemetary and has a large statue of Jackson on a pedestal and enclosed with an iron fence. It only takes a few minutes but if you're a civil war buff, you must see this and Lee's tomb. Visitors sometimes leave lemons around the monument, for those up on their Jackson lore!

It's a statue, but any history buff will find it, and the graveyard, fascinating. There are other graves from the time period that have "CSA" on them, as well as a Confederate Flag hanging of of them. Whatever your feelings on it, it is very interesting to see.

Visited Stonewall's grave, on a hill, in a corner of Lexington. Very nice graveyard, a very nice monument was erected to this great general. A friend told me it was tradition to place a lemon on his grave, so I brought my lemons to put out, and sure enough there were other lemons people had left. Glad I was able to see this historic place.

Having seen the site of Jackson's amputation in Chancellorsville Va, we were glad to finally view his final resting place .

Brought my lemon for the General! It was a significant event in the civil war when Jackson died. To be at the gravesite was pretty cool. Lots of historical people that I have read about were buried in this cemetary.

We stopped here to see the original grave site (fenced-in area for the family) and the relocated grave site/memorial. Lots of Civil War graves if you're interested in that sort of thing. We had a nice walk around the town afterwards. Saw a ghost tour group and wished we had gone on that, too.

We happened upon the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery by accident, but had planned on visiting anyway. Very interesting. Lots of civil war graves.

I've ready many books about Stonewall Jackson and always planned on visiting his grave. We stopped here on our way to North Carolina and I never wanted to leave. The cemetery was old and many of the markers were weathered, but the graves of General Jackson and his relatives were beautifully maintained. There weren't too many people in the cemetery when we were there so I got to sit on a bench alone with my 10 yr old daughter just looking at Jackson's grave. It was pretty emotional.

Although I tired of the lemons around the general's tomb, it is always kept in nice condition. Also several other prominent figures from the civil war are buried just inside the gate, do not miss them!
