Really enjoyed the unique wines. The staff was great. The grapes are not grown here, but we enjoyed the special blending they have available.

First, pizza can take a while when they are busy (which is always as they are pretty much the closest winery to get to from DC) so I advise ordering before you do a tasting. As to the pizza, you want to do extra cheese as their pizza has very little cheese normally, and their pepperoni is simply amazing. This is a deep dish pizza with a light flaky crust so don't be put off by the size of it being so big as it is actually quite light.

Had a great visit yesterday with the family! The pizza was amazing! We had the pepperoni which consisted of a thick crust with tasty sauce and pureed pepperoni! It was perfect with a bottle of the Vino di Nonni, their house red made from California grapes. We tried the wine slushy too, even thought it was a bit chilly outside! My only negative is that some grapes are sourced from outside of Virginia, but that does make for consistently good wines since the weather in VA is so dicey and the winemakers never know what they're going to get. Now we just need to get the winemaker to use some of his Cabernet juice to make a great Cab! Based on his other wines, it would be terrific!

Passed by QG's after visiting a few wineries in the area. They offer some unique types for Virginia which I thought set them apart from other VA wineries but they don't have a lot of estate grapes. While we didn't have the pizza when we were there, it smelled really good! The staff was also fun and friendly. I would certainly make a trip back.

We were there early on a Thursday afternoon, so it wasn't very busy. We ordered two slices of pizza each then had a wine tasting while we waited.Our server, Lindsay, was friendly and knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. We tasted two whites, four reds, and a little wine "slushy" (because it was our first time). The wines were generally very good (all are made on the premises, but not necessarily with local grapes).The real star, however, is the pizza. It's a thick crust, but it's not at all heavy or doughy. The sauce has just the right amount of garlic and herbs, and the cheese is perfect. It's the best pizza I've had since moving to Virginia. The grounds overlook a nice little vale. and eating delicious pizza and sipping some wine in a beautiful setting made for a terrific experience.

We went to Quattro Goomba's on the recommendation of a local friend. She raved about the pizza and wine slushies, so when we were in the area, we knew we had to give it a try! Clearly misunderstanding the menu, we ordered a "whole" pizza (8 slices) with "everything," a cheese block, bread for dipping, and a carafe of wine slushy to share among the 3 of us. Including tip the bill totaled over $100!! After we got over our sticker shock, we realized that the pizza is charged by the slice and that toppings for a whole pizza added over $21 to the price. We'll never make that mistake again!! To make matters worse, it really wasn't all that great. We always prefer to give our money to local businesses over large chains, but if we do return in the future, we will be sure to eat something else ahead of time and just go to enjoy the atmosphere and company!

This was our first Virginia winery and we had a lovely time. We went on a Saturday at about 2:30pm so it was a bit crowded but we were in no rush. Everyone was very laid back and friendly. The wines were very good...pizza was sold out but it looked and smelled great. It was obvious there were a bunch of frequent visitors there because they came very prepared with chairs and munchies. We did end up finding a nice little table under a tree. Husband was able to buy and smoke a cigar which he liked. We will be back for sure. Only thing I didn't like was lack of seating and they ran out of pizza BUT the staff said that it was unusual...they had two very large orders come in that bought out most of their dough. Oh well...at least they sold out and didn't have to throw out.

My wife and I were out for a drive in the country on a bright sunny day and we saw the sign for the winery. I speak some Italian and so I was curious about the name Quattro Goombas Winery. We decided to stop in for a tasting and after we parked the car, we walked to the winery. There were several tables under the trees outside the winery that provided a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy more than just a tasting. My first surprise was that there was live entertainment available in the evening hours and my second surprise was that they offered quality handmade pizza for sale by the slice. The pizza looked and smelled delicious but we decided to take advantage of the pizza on a return visit.The wines that we tasted were delicious and I purchased a bottle each of the Piney River White and Di Nonni (Grandfather's secret recipe red). There is a fee for the tasting but it is nominal.We look forward to many return visits.

I visited here with a few girlfriends and we had a good time. The wine tastings were done in the basement of the one house. The views were very nice, and it was nice to hang out in the open barn. The pizza looked amazing (I need to go back there to try it), and there was a dessert truck there that we all got a little treat from.

I discovered Quattro Goombas in the last year or so, and I'm so glad I did! They have different varietals from some of the other wineries, which sets them apart. Two other things which I think also set them apart: serving Cali wines (which are not theirs) and the PIZZA!!! One slice is usually enough (depending on how many wineries you've been to that day). I love the pepperoni!! I'm usually not a pepperoni fan, because of the traditional circular shape and grease, but they use a chopped up pepperoni, almost like a pancetta. Get the kind with pepperoni and banana peppers and you are solid. I love that their wines and the wines they serve tend to be drier than most in the area, but they also have the wine slushy for those who like things a little sweeter. Can't beat the live music on the weekends, and I would also say the atmosphere is dog- and tiny human-friendly. The winemakers are very friendly and are usually seen in the tasting rooms on the weekends. I would highly recommend this place to others--especially if you're already planning to go to Chrysalis (which is right down the road).

Pros: Service and staff, Wines, Pizza Cons: Smaller/Newer winery, late startQuattro Goomba, a winery located just off 15, is somewhat new to the business although off to a good start. Jody and Jay moved here from Pittsburgh. Jody told me that her husband started by making just a barrel of wine, which in turn lead to where they are today. Not familiar with the growing process, Quattro Goomba is just a winery, but with vines planted (chambourcin and traminette) and they are well on their way to get started in the vineyard business.I arrived at 11:40am, just before they officially opened. You are able to see the winery from the road and there is just a short road leading to the area. There are three buildings on the location, an antique building, a home looking building, and garage. I didn't enter the antique building, although I was curious and I feel it would be interesting to view. The home looking building is actually the "events" room and what seems to be a spare tasting room if it happens to get busy. There was a family starting to set up a gathering when I arrived and brought their own food. The garage is actually the winery, tasting room, and aIt took a moment to be greeted as the staff was getting ready for the busy day and setting up. I was greeted by Ryan who began my tasting. For those of you who shun wineries that do no use only Virginia grapes, this winery is not for you. BUT you will be missing out on some good wines. The wines, from places like Chile, California, and Washington, in general were a good variety of dry and sweet. I will say for some of them being out of state most of the wines had a good balance of both white and reds, and rotate out from time to time. Currently have: Dry Reisling, Rose, Cab Sav, and a few other wines. Also let me tried a slushie made from the Cab Sav.I ended my experience by trying the pizza. I was able to watch them making the dough and baking the items in the kitchen area while I conducted my tasting. Everything seems hand made and smelled very good. It's all freshly made and I waited about 15 minutes for my pizza to be made. The pizza was different than your regular pizza. It had a crispy and light crust, with a thin sauce, seasoned cheese, and crumbled pepperoni (other options available). The only negative I have is that I arrived a little early and seemed to be walking in on them preparing and working out some issues with staff and planning. Jody, the "Minion Leader" seemed to be having a lot of issues which intrupted the tasting, HOWEVER I didn't mind and was a few minutes early, plus the staff is really nice and seem to take care of business and keep the winery running in ship shape. Other than Ryan, I was also able to speak with Lindsay and Jenn, both were very friendly and would also recommend their company.Overall, I would recommend this winery. Although it's not strictly Virginia wine, I wouldn't hold it against them. The pizza isn't Virginia Pizza either, but it is also pretty good and above my expectations and beyond a greasy triangle I expected. Minion lady (Jody) and Jay both seem nice and I would like to visit to spend a little more time speaking to them about their start and winery. The location is small and probably not the best for hosting large gatherings or parties, but good for a smaller group. We were touring some NOVA wineries this weekend and almost didn't stop here, since there are now so many others to choose from in the area, however I'm really glad we did! While they import their grapes from other parts of VA & out of the state, their wines are made on site and are pretty good. Prices for bottles are very reasonable, especially for the area. Their tastings were only $6, so it won't break your bank. We had a wonderful woman give our tasting and it was a great experience. If you don't stay for a glass of wine, you MUST stay and have a slice of their homemade pizza!! We will definitely be putting this on our list of "must go again's"! :-)

The wines were nothing special if you have been to others in Louden county, and the food service was terrible. We arrived fairly early Friday evening so it was not that crowded. We ordered some pizza and after 30 minutes went to check and they said it would be right out. After another 10 minutes we went back up and they said someone else must have taken it. Well what's the point of handing out a # if you then give it to someone without that #??? Other than the wine slushy it was not worth the time.

We visited Quattro Goomba to look at a site for an engagement party. We decided to stop by on a Friday night because they had Live music, and to look around. The music was great, the pizza was very good, wine selecton/tasting was good, and the staff were very responsive and kind. We also got a chance to look at the Tasting Room which is a separate building (log cabin). It was beautiful. The grounds are open and relaxing. The view is the wonderful rolling hills of Virginia. This is a great meeting place for a group of friends to enjoy a relaxing and open atmosphere. Have a picnic, a snack, a meal, and/or wine. This is not a vineyard, but they do make their own wine.

I went here on a Saturday with a few friends. We stopped here on the way to another winery as it happened to be on the way. Parking was a bear and it was really packed. There was a private party in the tasting room so we had to go to that yellow cinder block building which was a zoo. It was very loud in there and you could barely hear the singer over the noise of everyone crowded in there. We tried to get to the tasting area in there but it was too packed with people (they had 3 stations set up) so we thought we'd wait a bit off to the side and see if one of the areas opened up. But two of the girls were hungry for some pizza so we ordered one hoping we could do our tasting and a table would open up before it was ready. While we were waiting one of the owners came over and told us the party was breaking up so we could go in the tasting room with our pizza and do our tasting. So two of the group when in and got the table while I waited with another friend for our pizza. The pizza was not the best. It's Sicilian style and it had a mini-loaf of bread crust with tomato sauce and mozzarella was dumped at the end (not melted at all) which was a bit strange to us. (The pourer told us this pizza is the "style" in Sicily but I did not like it.) So then we did the wine tasting. They were out of a wine so they substituted a CA wine. That was probably the best wine of the tasting (that's what I bought). The wines were all average to below. The pourer was very nice and knowledgeable but there's only so much one can do when the wines aren't that spectacular. The reds tasted as though they needed a longer time in the barrel and the whites were the better but not by much. Maybe it was just a crazy day but the wines just weren't that great. I wouldn't stop there again and I can't recommend it.I also realize that a lot of wine snobs believe VA is the bottom of the barrel in wines. I like to support my state and try to buy VA products when I can. There are some really good wines coming out of VA now, unfortunately this establishment hasn't quite achieved even fair status.
