My sister and I (she lives in Woodbridge, I live in Harrisonburg) decided to meet up and visit this vineyard a couple of weeks ago. The drive was beautiful and the view awesome as others have said.We enjoyed some soup, a cheese tray and a wine tasting. We were under the impression that they served 'food' from their website but it is only cheese plates. The wines were okay, we did each buy a bottle because that is usually what we do. The cheese plate was overpriced for the amount that was served and the bread served with had a huge air hole down the middle so there was really no 'bread' to eat with the cheese and sausages. They had live music and it was a little loud in the close quarters preventing conversation but it was nice music. The other issue I had was personal, I am frightened of dogs and a group of people arrived and sat at the next table and had a dog as big as a small pony on a leash and although well behaved, it ruined my experience. It is unfortunate that the people brought the dog with them but even more unfortunate that the winery allowed it to be in the dining area.I know the review sounds critical but it was the weekend after a major snow storm and I would like to do a return visit when not so on-edge and hopefully there won't be a huge dog laying on the floor behind me.
As most of the reviews have said, this place has a wonderful view, even in the drabness of winter. What we didn't like was the $7 charge for tasting of six of their wines (and a very small taste at that), with no credit if you buy a bottle. Others we have visited from FL to PA to OR offer free tastings of at least some if not all, or at least a credit toward a purchase. So go for the view but be prepared for an overpriced tasting of some wines that are just OK.
A pleasant surprise. Bluemont Vineyards provides a relaxing retreat where wine lovers can taste pretty good wine in friendly and beautiful surroundings. Spent a while here on New Year's Eve afternoon and the place was bustling and buzzing. Tasted six different wines, at least three of which were solid offerings. Recommend the Farm Table Red and the Norton in particular. The tasting platter was disappointing for the dollars, but not awful. Very accommodating and efficient staff. Go. Drink. Talk. Smile.
This should be one of the first wineries you visit if you're doing a tour of Northern Virginia wineries. They have some great wine and the atmosphere amazing. The view from the parking lot of deck is fantastic as it overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains. They also encourage you to bring your dogs with you too provided they are leashed.
1st winery of the day. Sat on the lower terrace and enjoyed the spectacular view. They had a few good wines. The service was great and the menu look terrific.
This was the 2nd winery we visited on the day we were out there. The tasting was nice and we had a buy one tasting get one free voucher. We purchased one bottle and stayed to eat there plate of cheeses, meat and a warm baguette. Although we went outside for a photo op, it was way to cold to stay out there long. They did have a very nice Vidal and we may go back with friends particularly because they had a specific whine I liked.
the views of rural va are spectacular, from the terrace, even on a chilly fall day.....live music playing as well......dogs and cats lounging by the bar, very nice, warm, friendly atmosphere.....the food starters are perfect, salami, cheeses, warm baguette.....all to accompany the wine.....the seven dollar, six-wine, tasting special is a fantastic deal......and was just the right amount (had to drive back to nova suburbs).....our favorite was the 'peach' wine, which was very subtle, with no aftertaste.....we purchased a bottle.....service was superb......a really great experience, we will be back.
While visiting Leesburg, VA, my husband and I went with a friend to Bluemont Vineyards. It was really great. We showed up a little late on Nov 1st, as they had just instituted 'winter hours,' but still with enough time to have a tasting. Their flight included 6 wines to taste and we ended up bringing 4 bottles home. While half of the wines were great, the other half were too sweet, but I must admit to preferring much drier wines. The view is amazing and the flora and fauna around the property is so enchanting. We saw a dog, cats, chickens, as well as gorgeous fall foliage... Best part is that the property is dog-friendly, and their animals are friendly, so my dog was perfectly comfortable falling asleep on the tasting room floor while I enjoyed my wine and friends. There was also live music, which was great, but it was a little loud inside and too cold to go outside. But I highly recommend Bluemont if you are in the market for a wine tasting -guaranteed you will bring some bottles home! (Just be careful on the drive up the hill, as there are a million potholes!)
Beautiful view of the fall foliage. Wine was very good and we enjoyed sitting outside on a beautiful October day. There was a guitar player so it made sitting outside even nicer. We have a cheese and meat tray that was large enough for our party of four to share. I would have given the winery a higher star rating but they seemed very unprepared for the weekend crowd. We pulled out and set up our own chairs on the large outside grass area. Not sure with the crowds the staff did not set up chairs as needed. We ordered Brie but at 1:00 on the Sunday afternoon they were out. They were also waiting to wash more bowls for their soup. I asked one of the staff members if the crowd caught them off guard. She said no we expected it to be this busy today. My thinking would be then be a little more prepared. Parking is limited so you may have to walk from the bottom of the hill. As everyone else mentions the view is worth going for.
After reading a recent review in the Washington Post, we drove out to Bluemont from the Md suburbs. Just about an hours ride through the fall foliage to the quaint town of Bluemount. The setting is beautiful; the tasting room building is set high on a hill and the view is as far as the eye can see. There were tons of people of all age ranges. Kids and dogs are welcome. The building is two story with a open seating area on both levels. Plenty of outdoor seating as well as a concrete ledge waist high to set your drinks on or to sit on and take in the view. Live musician performing the day we visited. There is a caged area with chickens, cornhole, and vineyards to walk through. Just an awesome place to chill for a few hours with a bottle of wine and good friends! Can't wait to go back!
While staying at the Salamander Resort in Middleburg, VA, my wife and I learned about the Bluemont and decided to make the beautiful 25 minute drive... The tasting room is like a wonderful country store. We bought humorous Bluemont T-Shirts and enjoyed a some delightful wines. We LOVED the bake brie, with apple jelly and ciabbatta bread... But there is NOTHING as wonderful as the view from an elevation of nearly 1,000 feet...!
We recently had a wedding at Bluemont Vineyard. The staff was lovely and accommodating. The food was delicious and The Stables was gorgeous. This is a very beautiful place and worth having an event here.
Went on a girls trip to Loudoun this past weekend and WOW this place is amazing! Bluemont was by far our favorite stop along the way. What a view!! The place was packed but the staff was accommodating and the wine was great! Can't wait to come back!
Perched on a hill this winery is just gorgeous with grape vines leading the way up on one side and apple trees on the other. It was picturesque and once we got there the wine tasting was delightful. Lynn served us and she was awesome! I like the Vidal Blanc best but they have a good variety of reds and whites to choose from. Definitely recommend this winery!
I attended a wedding at the winery last weekend and i thought the landscape was incredible. It was an evening wedding so the light over the hills and vines was amazing! If you aren't a huge wine person, take your camera and compensate with getting some photos of the landscape.
