Been here numerous times since they opened about a year ago. The beer & ale selections are outstanding, usually well over a dozen choices brewed on site, running the gamut from pilsners and IPA's to porters and stouts. Several unique beers without a comparable match elsewhere in Loudoun. A flight of several tastes is affordable and great way to experiment. The Slainte ("slawn-cha") stout is my go-to brew, full flavored but smooth, the % alcohol is moderate enough that you can drink it and socialize for quite a while. Others like the Jeb Stuart imperial are amazingly flavorful, a hint of whiskey, but two pints and you may need to switch to water for a while before you move on. Pumpkin is not my thing but everyone else I know who has tried it has loved the pumpkin ale.Growlers are a great way to bring the brewery home with you, as they only bottle one or two of the options at this point. I think they have discount fills on Tuesday nights. There are several bartenders but Trevor stands out as friendly and knowledgeable. I've met the brewmaster Kevin and he is passionate about brewing and happy to talk if you catch him in a down moment. You can usually see him hard at work-- for viewing sake there is a half wall separating the brewing area which hosts some pretty impressive equipment. They have free live music on most weekend nights, and the quality has been excellent. Mostly guitar singer-songwriter types, doing agreeable covers from the 70's to today, all talented. Not too loud either (unless you're sitting right by the speaker), you can maintain a conversation. Now that spring is (finally) arriving, it will be really nice to get back outside on their big patio area. Great place to meet up with friends on a Friday afternoon. The crowd here is mixed ages and includes both hipsters and old-timers, generally a classy group. Foosball is available and there are a TV or two for catching the big game. The decor is sort of industrial -- steel, etc., with a hint of celtic here and there. But it is not an Irish pub per se. Food and non-alcoholic drinks were an issue at first opening (there were none). But they've since added snacks, bottled water & sodas, also some fru-fru options (cheese, etc.). I hear fresh BBQ is on the way this spring, which will really round out this place. It's tucked away in the back side of a medical building, near KFC/Taco bell. You would't see it from Hirst road unless you were looking carefully. But definitely worth stopping in.
Thanks for the review we really appreciate it. Food is one of our priorities and we hope to have something consistent within the next few months. Hope to see you soon.
Thanks for the review. We really try to keep 12 distinct beers on tap at all times, both traditional and some outside the box. Hope you drop by next time you are in town. Glad you liked it!
We appreciate you taking the time to do this extensive review. The Irish Session was a big hit and we plan on scheduling them throughout this next year. Events are posted on our website and updated via Facebook.
This local brewery is brewing up some of the most innovate and tasty beers in the nation. As part of the Virginia Craft Beer scene, this is a must stop location along the Virginia Beer Trail. My favorites are the JEB Stuart Stout and the Padawan Pumpkin, but they have many styles and flavors. The brewery is a sister the Corcoran Cider Barn and the Corcoran Winery located a few miles away in Waterford, VA.
