legacy museum of african american history

This evening, I attended a reception for the opening of the Legacy Museaum's latest exhibit, which deals with the African American Experience in Central Virginia between 1860 and 1890. The new exhibit is an amazing collection of artifacts and informative displays which will educate and inform the general public. The curator and staff have done a wonderful job of intergrating the local story of African American's in Lynchburg, Bedford County and Campbell County into the broader national story of civil war, black emancipation, and the emergence of blacks into the mainstream of society. I give this exhibit a nine out of ten for presentation and a 10 out of 10 for historical relevence and accuracy. This is a must see if you are traveling in the Lynchburg area.
