Last spring we took my son to look at the University. We had visited 4 years before. Unfortunately we turned up after 8" of snow. It was beautiful but we did not get our tour. Still wonderful to see the rotunda and the lawn in the snow.
Parking was a little difficult at the specialist office. The hospital had a large parking deck. Neat little shops, trolley right there to take you anywhere. Nice outdoor setting when it's warm. Beautiful place college town lots of historyl
Admittedly prejudiced as we live nearby and my husband attended UVa, we love everything about "the grounds". When he began his Master's program at McIntire,we were treated to a tour of "the Lawn" where Jefferson began this university. This included a history of the grounds and Rotunda which are beautiful to say the least. The added bonus of visiting this University, is the plethora of sites to take in nearby which include: Monticello, Ashlawn, and even down the road a bit, Montpelier. Not to miss are the numerous wineries, some of which are very close to UVa and Monticello. All are worth a visit.
The architecture is brilliant. Grounds are well kept. Reputation of administration has been tarnished over the years and in my opinion, justly deserved. The academics are well known to be of high quality. There are a few "worlds" here in C'ville; those who belong in some way to UVA and those who don't. Very distinct cultures. The hospital is overrated in many capacities but with all things, nothing is perfect.
Enjoyed walking through. Unfortunately didn't get to visit the dome as it is being worked on but will on our next visit.
UVA is idyllic. It is the crown jewel of Charlottesville. Jefferson's architecture still impresses 200 years later. The University spirit adds a lot to this community, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. A wonderful place to attend college. We moved here from NY to raise our 3 daughters and it was a great decision.
Beautiful grounds and gracious hosts. The admissions staff provides nice tours and info sessions. TJ would be so proud!
It is a gorgeous educational facility, the grounds of the original university are steeped in history and beautiful architecture. I only wish I had had the opportunity to study here in my college years.
This is a very well organized & efficient hospital, they have staff that meet you at the entrance with a wheel chair for patients with disabilities. They are very helpful & try to help you in any way that they can. The parking garage is very confusing! Make sure that you pay attention to the color of your parking ticket. it will tell you which garage you are in!
This is the main reason people go to Charlottsville. The school has a beautiful campus and many green areas to walk through. There is a lot of history to be discovered as you walk through the campus. Several eclectic shops and restaurants are intermingled throughout the university area. Students show a unique school spirit walking throughout the town.
Founded by Thomas Jefferson, The University of Virginia is both historic and stunningly beautiful. Located in the vibrant and friendly city of Charlottesville, Virginia, it continues to be a major tourist attraction for visitors from around the world. Monticello is nearby, as are many wonderful Virginia wineries. A very family friendly destination.
What a gorgeous campus...you can see the Jefferson imprint everywhere! It is a fantastic place to stroll around and just take in all of the amazing architecture. Was visiting in town and decided to do my walk around the campus. It felt very safe at dusk, as students were milling about everywhere. If you are looking at colleges, this is one not to miss!
