Recently visited AleWerks with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised! Enjoyed a fun and informative tour and tasting and then stayed for a few pints of some delicious craft beers. AleWerks had a wide selection of unique and delicious beers in a fun atmosphere. A great spot for Williamsburg visitors and locals! Pro Tip: Tours are free for Williamsburg residents.
This trip came highly recommended from my beer snob friends. This was our first brewery tour and we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived early to try some of the beer on our own and we were greatly surprised. The prices are very reasonable for a Craft Brewery and worth every penny. The atmosphere was very friendly and the staff was knowledgeable about every product they offered. The tour was extremely informative and we got a great look into their small batch brewery business. Corbin, our tour guide was awesome! He kept the tour lively and interesting with history about beer and the company. The best part was the tasting, where we got to sample 6 of their best brews. We will definitely be returning, and purchasing a Growler! Hopefully they will get a restaurant open soon! That's the only thing that would make this trip better. (Only because we didn't want to leave)
The tour we went on was very short (perhaps due to the small nature of this craft brewery) and not as interactive as I have seen in other breweries. However, some of the history the brewer imparted was new to me and interesting. The beers were actually very good. It was refreshing to find such quality and variety. They were running low on some of their seasonal varieties, I imagine because of the holiday rush and it was very busy and a bit crowded, but overall a great place.
Popped in on a Thursday afternoon to get my growler filled and was surprised to see the new bar, gift shop area. There was quite a crowd ut I was served promptly and sampled several of the fine Alewerks ales before selecting the delicious coffee house stout to fill me growler. I shall return!
We were on vacation in Williamsburg and decided to swing by this brewery on one of our free days. Beer was excellent and the staff were very welcoming. The brewery is not big and I would say that the tour is more talking than showing, but overall it was a good time. You get to sample about 6 of their standard brews and they were tasty. Recommended for someone that likes beer. The only drawback is they have no food available other than free chips and pretzels. While it is nice they are free, it would have been great to get something more substantial. The staff stated they are supposed to offer food in the future, but they are still working on the permits.
Stopped into Alewerks Brewery while visiting Williamsburg VA.The wife and I had some Great Beer and met some wonderful People.Highly recommend to any Beer lover visiting the area.
Because we got a discount coupon, we decided to do a beer tour and tasting. Didn't know this is a top rated brewery in Virginia. Goes to show what good marketing will do. Corbin was interesting and informative and obviously loves the business. I'm not much of a beer drinker but really enjoyed the great beer and fun tour.
We went to the tasting room early Saturday and what a great time. The beer is really tasty and offered in tasting sizes (very generous tasting sizes, fyi), so you can create your own flights and try all the beers. The servers were really nice and knowledgeable and the tasting room has a nice community atmosphere.
Very enjoyable tour and beer tasting! Our tour guide. Corbin, was very helpful in answering our questions and very friendly. Lots of different beers! Your sure to have a good time!
I've toured wineries and I've been to wine tastings, but this small craft brewery was my first. Our tour guide was very personable; she had a nice explanation of the history of beer and how beer is made. (One note: this portion of the tour is right next to the bar area and the checkout area, so it was sometimes very difficult to hear her.) We had the chance to see the operation itself and taste six ales, which are pretty robust. Beer drinkers would really enjoy it: for $8, you get the tour and the tastings . . . and your glass!
Bought a pint of bourbon barrel aged Cafe Royale which I took on the very interesting, fun tour ($8) followed by 5 flight tasting + you get to take home the glass. Mmmmm!...yummy beer! Large crowd in tasting room, good variety of t-shirts, etc. in shop. Highly recommend!
We came for our second trip to Alewerks, last July was our first time here and we LOVE this place! Our first time here the tap room was not expanded yet, and this year even with a huge taproom the place was packed. We left VA Beach a night early to stay in Williamsburg our last night of vacation to come by Alewerks. The staff is so friendly and awesome, plus their beers are fabulous. I only wish they had sales in MD!
Great place to spend a few hours. They offer tours of the facility at 3:30pm and 4:30pm and the weekends are crazy. So if you are interested in a tour I suggest that you go out to their web site several days in advance and book ahead. The tour is well done and interesting but if you are not in to history you may want to skip the tour. If it is beer you are after this is the place. Despite the size of the facility the quality is second to none. They have many award winning beers and many styles to choose from. There is something for everyone here from Porter to White Ale. The tour will let you sample 6 beers that they have on tap. There is also a really nice selection of items in the gift shop, as well as that case of seasonal pumpkin ale that you may want to take with you.
Stopped in for a midweek tour and tasting at Alewerks, which was a treat. The tasting room and gift area are nice. The tour is short and highlights how simple beer making can be. Overall, a fun day with great people who love beer!
Agree with the others, if you want a tasting, pay the $5 and do that. The extra $3 isn't worth it. However, the thing you came for, BEER, is amazing bi just tried the pumpkin ale for this year and it is by far my favorite now. Even better than Dogfish Head Punk. I haven't tasted a bad AleWerks beer yet!
