This beautiful theater is located right in downtown Williamsburg on the bustling Duke of Gloucester Street. It's a great space for movies, performances, and community events. The past several times I've visited the Kimball, hoping to catch a movie, I've been disappointed in the selection. Many of the movies showing are already available on video, or were released months ago. This theater used to be a place I could count on to see films not shown at the stadium theaters in town. Now many of the movies on the schedule are unfortunately irrelevant. In addition, most movies are relegated to the screening room (a small room with chairs one step above folding chairs and a screen only marginally larger than the television in my den), instead of being shown in the gorgeous downstairs theater.

We saw the Williamsburg Symphonia perform their Christmas concert here this past weekend. The concert itself was excellent. The quality of the orchestra really stood out. The theater was an excellent place to take in a concert. It is small enough to have an intimate feeling. Highly recommended.

Located on Merchant's Square, the Kimball Theater is the venue for a variety of performances. We have seen conversations with historical figures (eg. Patrick Henry), concerts, movies and on this visit a comedy ensemble portraying an 18th century traveling show. The audience for "A Grand Medley of Entertainment" roared with laughter and the giggles from the children were a delight to hear. The show was PG, at times very silly, but an enjoyable evening non the less. Check the weekly Colonial Williamsburg Program Guide for the schedule of performances. Tickets can be purchased on site or at the Visitors Center.

Love watching colonial plays in this amazing theater. The experience is not only enjoyable but the shows are amazing and educational as well. You're in another time.

The theatre has many historic plays that the family will love. Located right at the edge of the historic area

The medley of entertainments show. Funny warm-up. Funny start that gradually faded. Good diversion for an hour. Theatre itself is a lovely building.

My 9 year old granddaughter and I went to the "A Grand Medley of Entertainments" performance and we roared laughing. If they offer this when you're in Williamsburg GO! Tons of fun with audience participation.

The Grand Entertainment Medley was an old time revue show with corny acts and comedy that didn't pretend to be anything else. The audience is encouraged to applaud, boo or just let their feelings be known. The people at the show we attended were really into it and had a good time, as did we.

We recently say a wonderful play put on by the William and Mary law students. Yes law student. They were great. The theater is very nice. Old style theater. Very well maintained. The staff is very pleasant.

Showing foreign and independent films, this theater is truly a gem. Right downtown in Colonial Williamsburg, the Kimball features both screen films as well as live performances. Most recently, I went with some family to a lecture series on "Music and the Brain." Certainly worth looking at a schedule whether you are a tourist or local anytime.

It was a little out of context, but when I noticed that the Kimball Theatre was playing it's a Hard Day's Night on one of the nights of our stay, I eagerly reserved and paid for 3 $8.00 tickets to the movie. The theatre itself is clean and located near some great eateries and shops (in a more modern section of CW available via the free shuttle). Both my kids and I enjoyed walking around a bit before the movie and getting buttery popcorn for the movie itself. Theatre seats were very comfortable as was the temperature and the crowd was thin so we had our choice of the best seats. Being a die hard Beatles' fan I don't have to tell you that we loved the movie too! One negative, the employee who was working the concession stand, not the welcoming gentleman who took our tickets, but the concession employee seemed extremely put out by the very limited amount of people who were purchasing snacks. She was a downer and should probably get a different job b/c she almost ruined my vibe. Would still recommend this as an out of context part of your trip to CW.

It is a small air conditioned theatre... Very quaint and we were so glad we went. Seeing something in here is worth the visit. We loved the band we saw and are so happy we went. Worth doing.

We have always enjoyed programs held here. It is very conveniently located and a comfortable venue. In May there were no programs here but there were last fall. Not sure why but there was a program in the auditorium at the Museum

We attended an hour-plus evening performance that attempted to re-create the kind of "traveling show" that our nation's founding fathers might have attended. Interesting and entertaining!

The Kimball Theater shows many interesting films, not the run of the mill things you see at your local mall. In addition there are live performances by Colonial Williamsburg re-enactors, and many fabulous concerts. The theater was rebuilt as a viable music performance space in the late 90s-early 2000s, and is quite successful. The town's chamber orchestra, the Williamsburg Symphonia, performs there regularly, as do several of the larger William and Mary ensembles like the Botetourts Chamber Singers, the William and Mary Jazz Ensemble, and the Middle Eastern Ensemble. There are occasional opera productions, and theater performances as well. It's a lovely size, so no matter where you are you aren't too far from the stage.
