This is a downtown Roanoke Nano craft beer Brewery, meaning their beers are brewed in small batches. They usually have a new beer every week or two. The owners appear to favor a hoppier style beer which translates usually to a higher IBU rating. If you are a self proclaimed beer aficionado hop head you must give them a try. Their tasting room is a small and very tastefully decorated with a laid back atmosphere. As they advertise on their web site they rarely have the same beer twice. They are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday late afternoon until 8. A solo singer is usually performing at least one of those evenings. They do not serve food but usually have a food truck of some flavor parked at the front door to service them or you can bring your own if you prefer. There is a pizza restaurant down the street they recommend, among other local restaurants that offer food to go. That's another review. Parking after 5 is free in a lot on the right of the main building
If you like a good, locally brewed beer then Roanoke's newest little brewery is an absolute must to check out. With a 2 barrel brewing system their on tap offerings are constantly changing, keeping things fresh and new. Recently they even teamed up with the local brewers guild and brewed the beer that won the Guild's Oatmeal Stout competition. The brewery seats about 45 people. It is absolutely gorgeous on the inside, utilizing growlers with Edison bulbs for lighting over the bar, a vintage trolley track found during "construction" as a footrest, color changing upper ambient light, and nice background music when live music isn't being played. They often have food trucks there as well and even when they don't they keep a popcorn machine going for free snacks.Kids are often seen in there as well, it is definitely family friendly. They have some board games and puzzles to play as well as wi-fi to plug into. We've gone there several times now with our kids in tow and they absolutely have a great time.
Stopped into this recently opened brew pub in downtown Roanoke, VA. It is located on the ground floor at an intersection parking is a little tricky, street parking or paid lots are close by. When you go in your greeted with a small bar area that could hold maybe 30 people. The newly renovated apce reminds you of being in someones billiard room. The beers were good albeit one of the IPAs was $7.00 for a 10 ozs. It was good though! The rest of the beers were priced about $4 to $5 a pint. Out front on the street they had a food truck for the evening.... all in all I am defn. coming back to this pub.
Big Lick, named after an early name of the city of Roanoke, is a new brewery in the downtown Roanoke area that is well worth a visit. They make several great craft beers. Even (and in my opinion, especially) their dark beers are really good for those that might not have liked other dark beers they've tried before. They have been selling out of flavors since their recent opening but new ones are being introduced. My favorite, so far, is their Belly Up Brown ale which is described as "medium bodied with notes of caramel and just a hint of coffee". They had a brew with coconut and cacoa that was sold out within the first couple of weeks of their opening. I am hoping that they make more so that I can try it. The tap room is very nice. It's small but doesn't feel cramped. They don't serve food but often have a food truck or a separate food vendor available. When we were there they had someone selling Vietnamese subs. I don't believe that there is floor service. You have to go up to the bar to get your order and then return with it to your seat. Their growlers are very nice and affordable.
