While on a trip to visit friends in the Richmond area, I lucked out with the fact that Hardywood was having a big event. While the brewery was busy, we never had to wait more then a few mins to get a beer. All the beers we tasted were very good, I particularly enjoyed the great return and the single....my friends really enjoyed the bourbon cru. The main tasting room and brewery bar are cool, but the best room was the private event room in the other building which has 2 bars in and of itself with some cool wall art. I would gladly stop back to hardywood any time I am in the Richmond area.

We stopped at Hardywood Brewery on a whim and had a good time. We ordered the flights of 4 beer for $12 and enjoyed some delicious crafts. The Gingerbread Stout was really good, but they didn't have any more bottled for me to bring home. They also had a nice jazz band on stage that played some good music. I will be sure to visit the next time I am in Richmond.

Go where the locals go for outstanding Craft Beers. Hardywood Brewery not only produces excellent Craft Beers, their employees will answer and explain all of your questions, and do so in a very friendly manner. (Oh yea, their good bartenders too). There are food trucks available, picnic tables, and plenty of room to just "hang out" in the tasting room.

We were fortunate enough to enjoy a behind-the-scenes personal tour of the brewery on a recent afternoon. Thanks to Chris and his staff for their hospitality! Nice selection of local craft beers, very community oriented and ecofriendly. Plenty of space to spread out for a picnic or group outing.

We stopped here on out way out of Richmond and it was worth the stop. On the Sunday we visited they happened to be having a little festival on the grounds and it had some awesome vendors. Inside the bar/tasting room there was an awesome mural representing the brewery on the wall. We tried the pumpkin beer and it was great. It had a nice level of fall spices to put you in the spirit of the season. We only got the what they call a "half pour" which is what they offer as a tasting but it was more than enough to enjoy the beer and get a good idea of what it tastes like.

Singel, by Hardywood, is by far my favourite locally brewed beer in Richmond! The brewery itself is a great place to spend a nice and relaxed evening. Thursday evenings come with a nice bunch of food trucks with a lot of variety in cuisines at very reasonable prices. The space outdoors is very chilled out and not too loud allowing for conversations and catching up. I can see why this becomes a regular haunt for most people; a fun evening and great beer without too much of a dent on your pocket!

A different place to go tucked in an industrial complex. Live bands on Thurs and Fri. Great craft beers and high quality. Don't let line at bar scare you, it moves quickly with an active POS system. Reasonable seating outside with food trucks and an indoor area next door. Draws a nice crowd and often have games outside to keep busy. Food selection is limited but having the food trucks there offers a decent option for a snack. Watch for new releases, these draw a large crowd. Only issue can be parking on busy nights

In touring the Richmond and Midlothian areas, this is a MUST GO to destination for people who love good beer. Excellent selection, great atmosphere, cool food trucks. When I was there, they had a band and lots of people in many areas of their property. Very cool and very good!

awesome brewery. Great vibe, nice people, very good beer. A place you can stay a while and drink good beer and play games.

We had a dental meeting and craft brew trail at same time. The food was brought in from on site trucks and the brew was good. The turn out was small but that just made more for those who were there. We were all able to leave with some of their seasonal brews. Nice brewery and a good time

Hardywood is the place to go during any season. You will not only find the best beer in Richmond, but music and good food. The staff is helpful and friendly. You can sample many different beers. Seasonal beers on tap are a "must try."

This weekend was the 2013 release of their Gingerbread Stout, rated a perfect 100 by the experts. We arrived about an hour before closing and found close parking and got served right away. The GBS is superb. Service was great. We had glasses of GBS and got 2 growlers to take home to MD. Sure wish they distributed to the Baltimore area.

I've been wanting to try Hardywood for several months now and was in Richmond this past weekend. It just so happened to be their 2nd Anniversary Party. There was a DJ playing music (I think live music was scheduled as well), several tents setup of organizations around Richmond, and probably 5-6 food trucks. Hardwood opens at 2pm on Sats and we arrive around 2:30pm. Not a lot in the area but I thought this is a good location if all you want is the brewery itself. I ended up getting a flight since I wanted to taste several of their beers. It was $12, which I thought was high, but I think they were at least 8oz pour so it ended up being average for 2 beers anywho, I did think the beer was great. Maybe it was because they were so busy and just pouring beer but I would have liked if they would have lined up my 4 flights beers in order as they would have liked me to try them. I think there may have been a tasting area in the room where the merchandise can be purchased that had staff that would give more of a true tasting feel (story about each beer, proper, line-up, etc).Overall, I though Hardywood was very good. I just wanted to taste a couple so didn't mind about everything else. I hear this brewery has a lot of events each month. I will definitely try them out again so i can get a more of a feel of this new brewery.

This reminds me of the old victory brewing Company Inc. Downingtown Pennsylvania 10 to 15 years ago. They have a unique culture and there's plenty of things to do there. You can listen to music, taste some fine craft beers, play corn hole, and enjoy some of Richmonds finest food trucks. If you like beer and Live in Richmond, this is a must place to visit.

My wife and I love finding ourselves in breweries. We actually met at a beer festival....go figure! So, we've gravitated to the great scene in NC in Asheville & Raleigh/Durham. We've enjoyed visits to larger breweries such as Highland, Brooklyn, Dogfish Head, & New Belgium. And, we love smaller local breweries like Holy City, Pisgah, Fullsteam, French Broad, Wedge, O'Connor's, Williamsburg Alewerks, St. George's, and Green Man.However, there are a handful of breweries that have mastered an atmosphere that delivers in multiple facets. We've noticed that Fullsteam, Pisgah, Hardywood Park, and the Wedge offer a great experience. Just about each of these breweries has a combo of music/live music, food trucks, flights of beer, and sporty activities like cornhole. Thus, Hardywood Park appears to be one of the few breweries in VA that has mastered the style that is successful in NC and other places. I can't speak for western VA breweries in Roanoke, Cville, etc. And, for some of the best tasting beer in VA, I like Wburg Alewerks. I've also been to Legend on the James River. They have a decent tour and a nice view of the river. But, Legend is not as fun in my humble opinion.Buen Provecho!
