I quit the gym so that I could go to this place more often. It's great fun. Challenging for advanced riders and friendly to beginner's too.

operator of the cable really didn't know what he was doing, only worked there for 2 weeks and doesn't wakeboard himself. doesn't pay attention to what is going on , that could be dangerous. while we were there 2 people were injured and he had no clue until people were screaming to shut off the cable. hopefully someone will work with him until he knows the job

Called ahead of time to be find out a good time to bring our boys out on a last outing before school began from McKinney. The person who answered the phone was impatient and cut me off rather than being considerate and helpful in determining a good decision for our family.I was courteous in midst of being treated very rudely. We arrive and a gray haired man asked if we had attempted to wake board before after replying no, he said we have already turned away 20 to 40 people in the last day or 2. Not so unhappy about being turned away but rather the insensitive could care a less arrogant attitude from the gray haired fellow. The customer service at this place is none. Do they have a good thing going, yes, but what goes around usually comes around in time. You reap what you sow.... Lessons need to be given on how to efficiently treat good customers with courtesy

My experience here is very disappointing. I'm an intermediate rider who is somewhat of a wakeboard "evangelist." I bring new people who have never tried the sport for their first time almost every week. At Hydros in Allen, the beginner ponds can be incredibly crowded. Waits can sometime top 30 minutes just for them to get in the water. The instructors I've witnessed have been uninterested in teaching and lacking in encouragement. On the big pond, there are several inconsistencies involving their riding policies that it leaves you scratching your head. On multiple occasions, rules about the park have changed leaving it hard to know what you're suppose to do. Furthermore, I've waited in line to ride over 45 minutes for a ride. I've spent $35 for two hours and rode 3 sessions, sometimes less. It can be frustrating for beginners who need repetition to gain progress or intermediates who want to improve. Although I have encountered friendly staff, there are some teenagers and even managers who have been impatient or insensitive. The cable breaks down regularly, and has taken 15-30 minutes to fix. I recently paid for a 1 hour pass and rode two laps because of this. Overall this place is not worth the price or the time. I am a huge supporter of wake boarding, but if you're interested in a place that is WORTH your time in money I suggest Cowtown Wakepark in Ft. Worth or BSR in Waco.

Our grandsons (ages 9, 11, 13) loved this park. It was their first time and the instructors were helpful and nice. There is a learners/beginners pond and a larger lake for those who know how. Lots of the older kids are quite good and the boys enjoyed watching them and were able to do quite well themselves. After a few tries in the learning area, they moved on to the big lake. A fun afternoon.

I live in the pacific northwest and have been wakeboarding for the past 12 years, mostly behind a boat. In recent years I've made several treks to Florida to ride their cable parks. This year, to shake things up a bit, I chose to visit Texas and ride at Hydrous. All I can say is....WOW! I was absolutely impressed with this park, from the quality of the rails to the pro shop and everything in between. I'm already planning my return trip. Cant wait!!

Great staff and great location in Allen. I could not believe this is in my own backyard. I took 4 friends there for a 2-hour "bachelor party" event. We all stood up the first time and really had a good time. Highly recommended!

Make sure you know how to wakeboard, but they do have a beginners area that I have not used. The main park is excellent the jumps are excellent and the water is really smooth. I would recommend going on a Saturday at 10:00 right when they open. Thi is way better that boat riding and when wen you fall it seems not as hard. Overall this is a terrific place and is very fun.

I'm an experienced wakeboarder (behind a boat) and it still took me 5 tries to get up. I fell on the opposite side of the lake when the cable transitioned. My son also has some experience an he never made it up on the advanced course (20 plus tries). There are absolutely no guidelines to follow when/if you wipe out. I nearly got smacked in the face with an empty rope as i was trying to swim to safety and had to swim fast to keep from getting hit by another wakeboarder. It was scary to say the least and im a good swimmer. Just don't fall and you will be fine.

I started out by going to camp there for 1 week, then end up going every day of the summer! The staff are very helpful and it was a great experience and I look forward to going back everyday next summer!

They use a cable system to pull a person around a water course on a wakeboard. Our family visited one of their other pools of water for beginners and had a great time.

I have been to Hydrous several times and i must commend the owners and staff members for making it a safe family environment. The only way that you are allowed to ride is by showing that you have a coast guard approved life vest and helmet both properly secured. The staff and even the frequent riders are very friendly and seem eager to share their knowledge to help you get better and better. There are several reasons Hydrous is the most family friendly place to wakeboard at. As a beginner you can learn to wakeboard on one of their three two tower cable systems which allow riders to be pulled at the slowest speeds possible while they are learning. Then during the summer at specific times the cable is run at slower speeds. This in no way prevents seasoned cable riders from doing any of the tricks that they like to, but is great for beginners who want to ride the main cable but may not be quite ready for full speed. Thanks to your required life vest there is little to no risk of drowning and as riders are constantly passing fallen riders therefore any distressed individual would be assisted out of the water right away. As you progress in your skill level you may begin wanting to ride the various obstacles such as rails, and kickers (ramps). Hydrous has commissioned UNIT park tech to engineer each and every one of their obstacles. This is a big deal because UNIT obstacles are one seamless piece of matterial with rounded edges so if you fall there is nothing to snag you like skrews or cut the back of your right leg open just below the knee if you fall on it. Hydrous is one of the greatest wakeboard parks i have ever been to and is full of great people young and old (71).

I absolutely love riding at hydrous. I look forward to riding every trip I make to Dallas. Its a great activity (and workout) for families, friends, couples, everyone in general. If you don't have gear no need to worry they have stuff you can rent, or if you've never ridden before instructors are there to help. People do need to understand wakeboarding can be a difficult sport so if you don't get up the first couple times it's ok, it happens but there are tons of people encouraging you and giving you pointers so that its a fun and relaxing environment. Last summer when i lives there I road cable for the first time and had only been wakeboarding for a year before that. Hydrous has great instructors who give awesome tips on how to improve your riding. I started just by doing laps and now I'm riding rails, pipes, and kickers, hopefully working on bankrolls soon. Easy to say I cant wait for there next park in Lewisville to open up. Everything is well up kept, there's always great music, red bull and vitamin water come a lot during the summer, lots of summer camps, and competitions they put on. The owners are really chill, somewhat goofy but they are really involved and also ride which is awesome cause you see how much they really care about the park and the riders.

I was looking for something fun for our family to do. A friend had mentioned we should finally try Hydrous before the summer crowds hit. We called to ask some questions like what to wear since we've never experienced wake-boarding. Since we were beginners they were very honest saying we'd be in the water quite a bit and although it was in the 80's outside, the water would feel chilly so heater tops were important. They have all the equipment there for rent, so all we needed to bring were towels and a change of clothes. The best feeling in the world was watching one by one each member of my family stand up!! We were on the beginner course where we received good feedback and my son was able to turn before our session ended. For beginners this is so much safer than learning behind a boat on a lake. The staff is very helpful and they are so encouraging. I'm in my mid forties, was the last one to stand up in my family, and I had a cheering session when I finally did. The next day my legs and arms were a bit sore in a good way and my hands had some light blisters so I should have worn the gloves. Overall I realized this is a great way to stay in shape and can't wait to make it a part of my workout routine!!! I am going to keep at it - I was in the water quite a bit at first until I got the hang of it. And thank you to the owners for picking the perfect location because there is not anything like this in North Texas!!

My daughters and I went to the park and none of us had ever wakeboarded. The staff was friendly, very knowledgeable, and kept working with us until we "got it!" They start you out on the slower lake and then when you are ready, they move you to the faster rails. My girls absolutely loved it and even begged me to go to the camp. I signed up for 1 week, but, they ended up going to several sessions during the summer because they could not get enough! This is a great, safe, fun family park! No one is allowed around the water without a life jacket and the staff is extremely helpful. We will definitely be spending much of our free time this summer going back!
