We went to the opening night performance of "Kayak" in the intimate studio, which probably seats less than 75, and sat in the center of the front row. While the play itself is amusing at times and the performance by the three-person cast was superb, Kayak is basically a really bizarre play. We plan to give Unity Theatre another try when the play itself is more traditional/classical/popular. The acting itself was impressive.
My husband and I saw Boeing, Boeing. It was a wonderfully, funny and well-scripted play that left us wanting to see more! If you are planning a trip to Brenham, I highly recommend visiting Unity. I ordered our tickets in advance on-line and they were ready for us to pick up at the box office. Well worth the price and a must see for all! Great fun!
This is a small venue with an intimate atmosphere. Most of the productions are directed by Houston people and many of the actors are members of the actors guild. I have never seen a bad play.
We felt the need to get away for a weekend and agreed that it would be fun to revisit Brenham. I did some research and found that the Unity Theater was featuring a production of Deathtrap. Not knowing what to expect, we decided to take a chance and, since we planned to stay at the Ant Street Inn, we ordered our tickets through them. The theater was small, but every seat seemed to be a good one. The lighting and sound were great. The quality of the acting was delilghtful. I am sure we will be back.
We saw Death Trap in the intimate theatre in Brenham and enjoyed the hospitality room and the play. I felt like I was on stage with the actors during their superb performance. We now plan to make a trip to Brenham again to see their next production.
The Unity theater is a gem of a nice place when visiting Brenham! Very clean, small nice venue that captures the nice small friendly town of Brenham Texas! Do some shopping, grab a nice dinner and enjoy the show!
Unity Theater has been serving the Washington County and surrounding area for many years and has been bringing intimate theater experiences to many people who would not otherwise be able to attend a nice quality production. The staff and community volunteers do a wonderful job of bringing quality actors and productions to Brenham for all ages to enjoy. I have attended many productions at Unity through the years and have enjoyed watching it evolve to serve the needs of our community. I thoroughly enjoy attending productions on Broadway and around the world when I travel, but I must say for a small town theater, Unity does an excellent job in entertaining their clients.
Brenham is very proud of the Unity, and I have to admit that occasionally, the productions exceed expectations. On the whole, however, it is very overrated and amateurish. Not impressed and not a subscriber,
I honestly was not expecting to find such a cool place in Brenham. This theater rivals most big city's theaters yet is small and intimate. Hard to believe it was once an old warehouse. Beautiful lobby area and excellent performance room. The sound and lighting for the play we saw was perfect.
Lovely little theatre that had everything you would expect to find in a big city. Such a gem of a find. Enjoyed the play Almost Maine while on a Valentine's weekend get away. Too much fun!
The theater is entering it's 19th year, with a strong support of it's sponsors, town, cast and crew. We were very pleasantly surprised at the impressive theater facility for a small town- and then the great quality and professionalism of the cast and volunteers for the current show "Almost, Maine"! We'll certainly attend another function!
An intimate environment helps to bond with the artists.Unity has a beautiful building and location.
We enjoyed taking our young girlsto see Cinderella at this wonderful little theatre. Not bad for a small town. You can see well from everywhere, as we were on the back "overflow" row and still had a great view! The mostly young performers in Cinderella did well and gave us a few interesting "twists" to the original story :) It's not a big city professional group, but you can tell they put their hearts and talents into doing their best! The lobby is roomy, and bathrooms are nice and clean. Friendly staff, and it was easy to purchase tickets over the phone. The theatre is in downtown and located close enough to dining options. Will look forward to attending another performance sometime.
Just enjoyed Cinderella (with a lovely little twist)! The intimate setting and the actors rival any show I've seen in New York! This is not community theatre but the real deal!
We are so fortunate here in Brenham to have such a wonderful theatre. The productions are all so well done and there is amazing talent. The theatre is small so it is much more intimate than a large theatre. If you are in town or just want to come for a show you won't be disappointed.
