This was a gorgous setting for the Texas Outdoor Musical - amid the rocks and shrubs...and quite a dramatic backdrop. Adequate parking, though getting out seemed a bit confusing. Will return.

We loved the play (Texas) but wish the seating was a bit more comfortable for people with disabilities.

I love the way they've incorporated the rock look into the sides of the amphitheatre where some of the scenes take place. The sound was great! One complaint is the seats are very narrow and quite uncomfortable for the length of the play.

Wow the Amphitheatre is quiet beautiful with it's rock cliff. who would have ever thought you could make it in such a beautiful back ground. It is so worth it to go see.

The show "Texas!" was amazing. I toured with a group and the staff of the park were very polite and accommodating. We did the Chuck Wagon Diner and the backstage tour along with the show. I highly advise getting your tickets for the top of the theater because you are able to see everything going on in the show. The backstage tour was very interesting and we learned a lot about the special effects of the show. I plan on returning to see this show many times in my life.

This is an awesome setting for theatrical performances. There are several through out the year. The main one from June to mid May is "The Musical Texas" about the early settling of the Texas Panhandle. I am sure that more information an be found from Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation. This show is Tuesday thru Sunday dinner is available at 6:30pm, amphitheatre opens at 7:30 show starts at 8:30pm. This show is for all ages best seats are in center section about mid way up. You get a full view. The people who answer the phone are very helpful. There is also a small store near the performance area in the state park where you can also get food, gifts, etc if you would rather do that. The performance also offers backstage opportunities to see all the costumes and behind the scenes props.

Great amphitheater for the musical. No bad seats so no need to 'spend up' for the more expensive ones. Excellent sound system for outdoor theater.

We bought tickets for 5 adults and a 6 yr old. We sat in aisle I and aisle J right in the middle section. These were awesome seats because we were the right distance from the stage and were able to see everything. It poured rain earlier so we worried they would cancel the show and it was the last showing for the season, but we got lucky and the night was perfect. The play was great with live horses and the use of the canyon as a backdrop. It was well put together and the end of it was the best with the singing and the fireworks intermingled into the production. If you have not seen this play yet it is a definite MUST see!The only thing I would say is if you decide to go at the very end of the season, eat before you go because they run out of everything at the concessions because they are trying to get rid of their inventory other than that it was awesome.

One of the best attractions in Texas, don't miss it, I left a foot off the ground. Comfortable seating, good views of the canyon.

You must visit the amphitheater and see the play Texas! This is a must do if you are in the area. If you are not traveling this way then you need to come see the play. The nature outside canyon makes the play marvelous! The actor and actresses are students and/or adults that are very professional.

The Texas Show was awesome. I could see it 6 or 7 times more. It has so much going on in it you have to see it again and again just to see it all. I loved the finale, a must see for all.

We visited the Canyon, TX area as a group of 9 on our way back home from Philmont Scout Ranch. My Dad recommended the show, so we added it to our itenerary. We arrived at Palo Duro Canyon State Park around 6:30pm and were stopped at the gate, advised there was no park entry fee, and given directions to the theater. On the way, we stopped at a scenic overlook and were blown away by how breathtaking the site was!We found our way to the theater, picked up our meal and theater tickets at will call - a quick and easy process, and got in line for dinner around 7:15. I would suggest getting in line sooner as the line was long and hot by then. They do have several mist stations around the reception area, but the line for dinner was missed, not mist. Dinner was very good BBQ, but be forewarned that there are very few options and if you have picky eaters, they may go hungry or just settle for bread. The show was big, with lots of Vegas / Broadway style singing and dancing. It isn't my thing, but I thought it was somewhat well done. The story focuses on personal relationships and the struggle between farmers, ranchers, and native Americans to deal with each other, the rugged land and weather, and progress in order to tame the Texas panhandle.Everyone in our group enjoyed the show, and we managed to hoof it out of the theater before traffic got too bad. I would recommend the show for anyone.I wouldn't be a good scouter if I didn't say DRINK LOTS OF WATER!

As a seasoned traveler, the only thing I disliked was the heat and I don't think there is anything one can do about that. I cannot offer enough praise for such a wonderful performance. And prior to the show, the country music band gave an added attraction.

If you're expecting a great broadway show, then pause before buying tickets. If you want to do something a bit different, then it's an enjoyable evening. We bought the BBQ meal - it was pretty good - but don't wait til 7:30 - there wasn't a lot of food left and they ran out of dessert. I'd buy the meal again. You can also buy nachos, and a couple other items for $3-4 apiece. The special effects in the canyon were great. The sets and lights were really quite good. The script/dialogue was a mess - but the actors did their best with it.
