I have been to another spa twice and was so excited to go to Spa Castle. We went to King Spa first. Then two days later went to check out Spa Castle. Was really disappointed. The place was filthy! The staff was rude and not helpful at all! We tried to book appointments for facials and pedicures and were told they were booked. brow waxing and the girl that did her waxing screwed her brows up royally, seemed unsure of what she was doing and it showed! My sissy came out of the room with uneven eyebrows! It was horrible! There were dirty towels everywhere we went! No one on the staff seemed to care that there were dirty towels, wet towels, or dirty dishes left around anywhere. Also, some of the spa's were cloudy and murky, and had foam build up with nasty, dirty foam build up in the middle! Was gross and kept us from entering certain area's so we felt cheated and didn't get our money's worth.Plus, this place is much more expensive than King Spa. If you want to get extra services, go to King Spa. If you don't care about the pools and like the sauna rooms, then this place has bigger, and more spacious rooms. However, the staff doesn't care about you, they are rude, and they charge you for every little thing. The pro's... they have a lot more sauna rooms, the cons....it was dirty, and waters were murky. And the staff was just downright rude, not helpful.King Spa is much more of an Asian experience, where Spa Castle is much more upscale, contemporary, Asia meets Rome, meets West feel to it, but quite frankly, I was disappointed at the lack of attention to customer satisfaction, service, and how dirty the place looked. At King Spa, you constantly see the staff sweeping and cleaning and picking stuff up, you could barely put something down and they are right behind you to clean up. This place, stuff sat around for HOURS! Kept walking past the same dirty dishes, same dirty towels and no one seemed to care. It was a beautiful place, but oh, so gross!!!! Too bad! Such a lovely, to have the feel of such a dirty place was beyond me! I'm pretty open minded but this place, as beautiful as it is, was a pit hole. Best part about it were the sauna rooms.Do yourself a favor, if you want the pools & somewhere clean, go to King Spa instead! If you don't care about the pools, or water feature's then go here for the sauna rooms. Lots of space and very nice, very modern. I'm trying really hard to be neutral here. Pro's and con's for both spa's but the lack of cleanliness factor and poor customer service just appalled me!
I suspect the rooms at the One Boutique Hotel at Spa Castle in Carrollton, Texas are not properly cleaned between guest check-outs. I recently stayed there and had to plead with management and housekeeping staff to clean my room. Even after much pleading, my room was still not cleaned. The Front Desk Manager said, " I asked Housekeeping and they said they cleaned your room." I then had to call the General Manger on duty (a trainee) who came to my room to take photos of the uncleaned room as I had reported previously. I never felt comfortable in a room that I clearly suspect was clean. I checked out of the hotel as soon as I could there after.
This place is so decadent. It is huge. There are so many different saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and pools to choose from that I felt like a kid in a candy store. The entry fee is $35 for a full 24 hours. My friend and I arrived late in the afternoon on the first day and spent a few hours in the sauna. We returned the next day to complete our 24 hours and felt like we got an extra day. We went mid-week and there were hardly any other people. It was so relaxing. The entrance fee includes a wrist band that opens and locks your locker, as well as a very comfortable spa suit for going into the mixed gender saunas. For the saunas and pools in the single gender area, one goes au naturel, and it is quite comfortable. They also supply towels. This would be a sweet treat for couples or a fun night out for friends. It is so different from anywhere I've ever been. I loved it and felt rejuvenated when I left.
*DIRTY BLOODY TAMPONS**Bandaids**Scum**Hair**Broken jets- inside and out*Above is a list of some of the things you may find in the water at Spa Castle. We first went out to the outdoor water area. We went in the hot tubs, jet/lazy river area and cave hot tub outside. In the area with the jets/lazy river over half of the jets were not working. In addition to the jets not being in service there were plastic beverage cups everywhere and an extremely loud group of women drunkenly signing at the top of their lungs. So, disappointed and annoyed we came inside to the indoor pools near the aqua bar. Inside, we found the same thing if not worse. There were couples making out at the indoor hot tubs, scum in the pools, cloudy water and again many of the jets did not work. We decided to move into the area just for women. After being in the congregated pools, I wanted to put my bathing suit in the dryer/spinner, however it was out of order. So, we showered and got into the women's only hot tubs. Again, the water was cloudy, scummy and in one pool there was a band aid and in TWO other pools there were DIRTY BLOODY TAMPONS. I reported these conditions immediately to the staff in the women's area and they promptly closed down the pools- kudos on that. The issue of the tampons in the hot tubs is a matter of health and safety. I have traveled to 16 countries in the past 4 years and in each country (many developing counties) I always go to the local bath house. Even in the dirtiest countries I have been to, I have never witnessed conditions like these before. I lived in Korea for a year and have been to several jimjibongs and I know these conditions are not normal for the Korean standard. This experience was disgusting, repulsive and nauseating. While I will say that the food was good and the staff was courteous and polite it didn't make up for the disgusting conditions. I attempted in three separate ways, (email, phone and the "contact us" portion of the website) to get in touch with the manager and have never heard back.
I purchased one of the Living Social deals, so I can't complain for the price I paid. I'll review the hotel separately. The spa wasn't overly crowded, was relatively clean, staff was helpful, the food was very good. Yes, sure, you have to be naked for some of the pools, but they've successfully recreated the jimjilbang ambiance right here in the US. Even the most skittish of bathers will feel relaxed once they realize that no one is looking at them or judging. The saunas were all in good working order. In my opinion, there's enough to do with the pools and saunas that you could spend the day there without needing to fill time getting one of the spa services. After all these good things, why only 3 out of 5? -It needs to be a lot more clean to earn all 5, in my opinion. If you're forced to be naked in the pools, I don't want to see ANY garbage in them AT ALL. -They need a more customer-friendly way to monitor guests between the hotel and spa. Running up to the room for something was always a big to-do. -All the jet buttons in every pool should work (less than half worked.) -Prices for services (such as a massage or facial) are astronomical. ($180 is the cheapest massage.)
Great placeIts $35 to get in, but you can stay there for 24 hours... I even spent the night... which was not my best idea, cause it wasnt too comfortable, but still had a lot of fun... A huge choice of different saunas with different temperatures, bunch of hot tubs, really relaxing
Spa castle is very nice but the girls inside the ladies locker rooms are not helpful. They dont want to be there at all and it shows . Other than this it was nice.
Our group visited Feb 28th and had the queen for a day package. The spa is clean and had a lot of amenities. I purchased the Spa shoes since they don't let you walk around with your own shoes or sandals. It is kind of of gross to think about walking in a public bathroom without shoes. Yuck!! The massage and facial were great but I wouldn't suggest you do their mani or pedi. It was rushed, no scrubbing, or even soaking your feet or hands. Also, they claim to have OPI polish but the quality doesn't seem to be OPI. They told my friend that she was dry and she went to wash her hands later and the polish peeled off! They did fix it but that didn't last either. About 2 hours after my mani, my polish had dents in it. This has never happened at my normal mani/pedi spot. It is now the next day and my feet and hands look about a week old!The saunas and pools are really nice, well worth the $30 entrance fee. We were there 8 hours and didn't use all the amenities. Not enough time! The only complaint our group had was the food. You aren't allowed to leave and return, so I would think they would have better food selections. Think lower end Panda express with fries, chicken strips, and $5.99 ramen noodles! Lol, when I asked what the "noodles" on the menu were he called it Ramen Noodles for $5.99! For a spa, I would have thought they would have deli sandwiches, different salads, and yogurts as well as the Panda express type food. Anyways, this place is worth the visit and we would return!
Spa Castle is one of my favorite places to go. It is a great place to relax! I have tried everything with the exception of their spa services. All pools are heated and the jets will massage just about any part of your body. There is a nude area, which at first was a little odd for me, however, I tried it and loved it also. I also did a 45 minute (nude) body wash and it was so wonderful that I wished that I had purchased the longer package. Every time I go I leave very relaxed and wish that I could devote more time.
I took my wife here for a little getaway for Valentines day and they did not disappoint. We stayed at the hotel and they did a great job of setting the room up with rose petals and towel animals. The power was out when we got to the hotel but they let us into our room anyways and let us take care of the paper work later. The Spa itself was excellent and we really enjoyed ourselves. My wife had a massage and said it was the best she has ever had. The saunas are great and just being able to lounge around and not be on any schedule is great. The pools and hot tubs were very nice and the aqua bar kept us from gettin thirsty. I would highly recommened Spa Castle to any couple looking for a good getaway. The hotel was very nice and modern and the bathroom tub was great for finishing the day off in.
This is the best spa tucked up in Carrollton. It's so spacious and clean. You can dine here, sleep here, soak up the heat in the sauna and even drink alcohol here! I absolutely love this place and will come back. My favorite area is their outdoor swim area. Absolutely immaculate and beautiful.
We spent most time in common areas (swimsuits). Liked swimming and relaxing in thewhirl pools with bubbling seats outside. Nice food - sushi. We went with friends and kids - everybody liked it. Was worth a 4-hour drive from Houston.
Had a great girlfriend day with my friend that is visiting from out of town. We spent the whole day there in the sauna and enjoying tea. Calgon take me aay!
Very poor customer service! The bath and sauna parts of this spa are clean and relaxing, just don't spend money for extra services. I got an 'Aromatherapy Manicure' that was advertised as 40 minutes. It was NOT worth $25. It was a regular manicure with a bit of lavender oil added to the lotion. I shouldn't pay $10 extra for two drops of oil. It isn't any longer than a regular manicure either, honestly it felt really rushed. Not to mention one of the employees phones kept going of to the point that my nail technician commented on it! Turn your phone to silent when customers are there, I don't want to hear a duck quacking every 30 seconds during my mani. When I told management, the lady ran off and came back 20 minutes later and proceeded to argue with me about the quality of the manicure. She said she checked the cameras and I spent 30 minutes in the nail salon so I was wrong and everything was as advertised. I want those 10 minutes or $10 back! Needless to say I didn't get a refund. Very poor customer service.
