I like the price. 2 movies for a very low price will keep me coming back. The snack bar isn't too bad for the price. You do have to deal with the weather so avoid this location during rainy days. Be aware during the summer movies start much later due to the TX sun than they do in the winter. I would recommend it if you want to watch a movie and would like the nostalgia of the old days. They have a putt putt golf course for an extra but reasonable fee.
A drive in movie was on my bucket list since I had not been to one since I was a teenager. Absolutely loved it and it brought back lots of memories. Great place and great concession stand. Bring your mosquito spray and lawn chairs. Great for the family and a value!
Our entire family (with kids ages 6 months to 4 years) were able to watch the movie from the comfort and privacy of our SUV. It was great, we had enough space for everyone and we weren't worried about the kids bothering others. Movie quality and sound was great.
We have been coming here since it opened although it gets so crowded now that the secret is out!! $7 for 2 movies is a steal. They show all the latest releases. I think the owners now try to pack too many ppl into the screens for bug features and for someone in the back makes for a not so good experience. Used to they did not allow trucks or suvs in front but they have let that policy lax as well so if in a car u maybe parking behind a truck on a busy night. Summer months I recommend you arrive 1 to 1 1/2 hours before the 9pm start time. Yes 9pm even tho website says 8:30 anyone that knows anything about drive in's knows it must be dark. I don't mind the late start. All in all we really love it but definitely needs improvement in snack bar and rest room cuz the lines are unbearable!
The price per person and the snackbar prices are a great value. They say movies starts at 8:30 but wasnt dark enough until 9:00. 1st movie ended at midnight. We listened on the car radio in the air conditioning. I will go back in the Fall or Winter when it gets dark sooner and the nights are a bit cooler.
Better than a movie theatre. Kids can roam and you can bring your fur kids too. The snack bar could use improvement. $3.00 for a stale burger with dried cheese to me is a bit much. Nacho cheese looks fresh and they really should offer at least one free drink refill . You definitely have to use your own radio to hear the movie for their speakers are mostly busted. Would definitely recommend it for movie time with family and friends tho.
They have 5 (or is it 6) screens, a miniature golf course and a WONDERFUL snack bar. Reasonable prices. They kids have a place to play and it has been a safe place to spend an evening. If you go during mosquito season make sure you bring some good outdoor repellent with DEET. And if you go during the really hot months it's a good idea to bring some cooling neck wraps and hand-held fans. But all in all...........it's a economical and fun way to spend an evening.
Great price of $6 per person. The concession stands were not great and had an extremely long wait time. If you get the funnel cake do not get a topping completely ruined the cake. The digital projectors make for a good showing, though the subtitles were difficult to read from near the back. I would suggest getting there early, we arrived just at what was posted was the start time and couldn't get in for 30 minutes or so, but the shows didn't start on time either.
First drive-in theater experience did not disappoint. Got there an hour early on a Friday night to secure a good spot and beat traffic (had to go through Dallas traffic). We had no problem finding the place (just look for huge white screens/boards). There was a putt-putt course in front (small area and looked old). 3 cashiers welcome you when you drive in, we paid $6 to watch 2 movies and they direct you to the movie screen and the radio frequency to tune in for the audio. We parked beside one of the several speaker stands and strolled around the area - there were 2 sets of restrooms and snack bars (one snack bar had taco salad while the other didn't). We used the provided audio speakers but had to use 2 for better volume (our neighbor didn't use theirs so we used theirs as well). We sat at the back of our SUV while some people had an inflated bed on the truck bed, lounge chairs but most sat inside the car. Food was not bad for the price. Toilets were old and you'd need to press the flush handle a while to flush right. Music played before the movies started were 60's/70's and contributed to the dated ambiance. As an added bonus, you can also see the stars in the sky and enjoy the wind chill at this movie place. I'll pack pillows and blankets (it was chilly that night) next time.
For those of you old enough to remember when Drive Inns were all over the country, this is one. It is not old but really brings back the experience. A really nice experience, remember how hot its in in Texas in the summer.
The price of admission for two fairly recent movies can't be beat. Especially when you've got a toddler who wouldn't enjoy a typical movie theatre experience. Concession stand prices are very reasonable! I was expecting much higher prices. Although, stay away from the pizza--it's gross. The facilities are very dated. The put-put course up front looked like a remedial shop class project. If you don't mind the signs of aging, it's a great deal.
Our first ever drive in, it was very good and the quality of the picture and audio was very good. The location is good and easy to get too if staying in Ennis.
Had so much fun here. Only way to watch scary movies! We live about 5 hours away and are considering making the drive again just because it was such an awesome experience!!
It's great fun to go to the Galaxy Drive-in. There are plenty of screens and the price is a bargain at $6, which gets you two shows. I like to go on weeknights as weekends are crowded. Especially fun is taking your own folding lawn chairs and sitting in front of your car, under the stars. I turn my SUV around, open the back, place the chairs at the back, and adjust the speakers to the back of the car. It works great! The movie audio is played on FM radio as well as on the old movie speakers that can hang on the car window. Don't try and take your own food as the owner doesn't allow it. Instead show your support by buying concessions. They are inexpensive compared to indoor theatres. The popcorn and drinks are fine. The hamburgers are small. I think the owner should offer more dinner fare at a higher price as I think people would be receptive. This is a good place to take a date for a unique experience.
It was not my first time at a drive in theater, but it was for my husband and my 2 year old. In fact, this is a great place to take a toddler when you have no idea how he will act in the indoor movie theater! Now we know we will probably have to wait a couple years before that little ball of energy can go anywhere BUT a drive in movie!! It was jam packed, as Galaxy sold out the night we went on every screen, but we had a great time even parked in the very back (which happened to be right next to the concession stand and bathrooms!) This was our first visit to Galaxy, but it won't be our last. I was glad to be there on a night they did so well! I loved it, it was just like the drive in I went to when I was a little girl. We'll be back again and again!
