The courthouse in the center of town is awesome. There are many unique shops and eateries around the town square. Parking is plentiful also.
Glen Rose downtown square has a beautiful courthouse, but not much else. Most of the business have closed so shopping is limited
The town square is small, with a few stores that deem themselves antique stores. They all had clothes and some assorted "consignments" ~ some probably vintage or antiques. The "antiques" were more like garage sale items in my opinion. We did enjoy eating at The Green Pickle and there was a small farmer's market on Saturday morning - nice tomatoes, melons, and homemade jams.
Reminds me a lot of my hometown. Lots of free parking. Can park and walk all over the area. Variety of shops, museums and food. It does close early, but thats part of small town charm. Very impressed with the friendly shop owners and residents. You can even see and touch a huge dinosaur track right in town square!
We drove through downtown, as we arrived late Saturday.Neat little town, wish we would have had time to visit the shops, but as of around 8 PM, they were all closed up.Still looked really neat.
Some of the shops are so interesting. The architecture of the earlier houses (stone) is nice. People are very friendly and quick to respond any questions the traveler may have.
It is a beautiful area with lots of quaint shops and everyone we talked to was so friendly. We were a little disappointed the first day we went to the historic downtown area because most of the shops and restaurants were not open on that Wednesday....But we came back on Thursday and everything was open. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
The square has an old school charm, fun to walk or drive around. There are places to eat, gift shops and a place to get an ice cream. Go before early evening, some places close around 5PM.
The County Museum in downtown is pretty good. It has some nice fossils and casts of dinosaur prints. Other than that, there were some good places to eat, but only Pie Peddlers was unique. The shops are Antique Shops for the most part, so if you aren't into antiques, don't shop here.
You must spend some time walking around the square and taking pictures. The statues are unique. Great place to have a wedding.Be sure to walk inside and see the old offices. Also, buy some jelly and pickles from the peddlers or some fresh vegetables.
Lots of shops. Nice downtown area. Can easily walk to shops and food. Lots of history. Busy at times.
A nice little museum in the town square along with some shops and places to eat. Shops carry old items that you normally do not find in mainstream shops.
Not very many stores. Seems like there were a couple of stores that were never open. At least the several different times went back.
Great little shops and sandwich shops are around town square, with old court house in the center. Very picturesue
The historical part of historic has but been removed from the square of this town. Aside from a few things right on the courthouse lawn most buildings of any historic significance have built over or added to to the point they are no more. A few little over priced tourism shops and the rest is county or city business. Very boring just like the town.
