This golf course was in pretty good shape. Greens are well kept. If you are not a really good golfer this is a course you do not want to play. Lots of water, deep sand traps, long rough. Tons of brush. Bring lots of balls.Keep it straight is all I can say.
The same things that make this course good - make it bad.It is right off the highway so it is easy to get to. It is right off the highway so .....It has a lot of water and woods making it not the typical goat ranch layout. It has a lot of water and woods - some of which is around a creek that thugs hide in and rob golfers. No joke.It is easy to get a tee time. Parking lot break-ins are the normal occurance here. I no longer drive my regualr vehicle to this course because I have 7 verified cases of vehicles broken into in their parking lot - including one of my own last year. I am thinking I am not alone in the expeirence, so tee times are easy to get.The course is fun if you are not worried the whole time about your vehicle (ride with a friend) and I have heard the river muggings are on the decline.
I like this course and give it a 4 based on the course design, condition and shot values. There are some very birdie-able holes and some that you would love to get a par on. With Eagle management conditioning is consistent. 18th hole is a round maker or buster - which is interesting since it is the last hole. But if you par it, you will walk away feeling much better. As has been stated, based on mid-cities location and proximity to busy highways and airport, on the weekends it gets tons of play and for some reason it can really stack up. Would benefit from some aggressive monitoring, but not sure that would help, I think pace is dependent on design and clientele, etc.
Recent rains have helped greens and fairways grow plush. Pace of play on Sunday was very comfortable. Challenges in the bunkers were rough just because of rain water. Otherwise great course. Beautiful trees. Challenges were great
Course gets overloaded at weekends. My 3 ball gave up after 9 holes took 3 hours 10 minutes. Family of 6 playing together in front didn't help. I have never played a game of golf where 3 groups were staked on a tee waiting to play. When I complained and asked for a refund for the 9 holes I was brushed off with the claim that I had time to finish! 6 and a half hours for a game of golf!!!'
The wind makes this course very challenging......it has a semi link style feel ...many fairway bunkers and water along the way to challenge player...some of the greens are long and small and pin placements...even on a weekday... made it hard to get close to the pin...most of the greens are heavily bunkered and deep...fits a golfer with s slight to moderate fade perfectly... better know how to play into the wind and bring plenty of patience as it can get really busy...staff was very friendly...let me get on without a tee time... it was my first time playing this course but I will return...senior rates effective at the age of 55 which was a plus for me...a great experience nevertheless
To start the staff was great on such a busy day. Kept us well informed and still got us off on our scheduled Tee time. Nathan, the employee or head pro at the course was dead on when asked about difficulty from associated tee boxes and which we should play. Our time of play was late February and the course was in great shape for that time of year. Pace of play was good and got our round in at 4 hours which was a shock for as busy as they were. Fairways were green and soft along with the greens holding and rolling true. The service from the cart girls was great and even a stop at the turn for food or drinks. Will play this course more often considering the price, experience, and challenge. As far as what i have read on the parking lot issue, it's not that far from the club house and it's simple, put it in the trunk for what someone can see they will take it if they want it bad enough.
This course is truly close to being a links course right on the banks of a river. The pro that manages this place is a great guy always nice and remembers who you are after a couple of rounds.. The course stays in good shape considering the daily traffic .. Greens and fairways kept nicely all year round. The pace here during the week is quick a round in 2.5 hours and weekends a little slower but an hour extra isn't bad. Most of all the price for this course is the draw really affordable for weekend golf in this area..
Had a great time golfing at this hidden gem. Had golfed the Cowboy Country Club two days before and for the value this was hands down the better experience. Course was in great shape. We had to wait over an hour for our cab that never showed up. Assistant GM and head professional Nathan Gillespy offered a ride back to our hotel by a clubhouse attendant. We excepted, thanks again for saving us Nathan! We will be back next year for sure. Highly recommended.
I like the course and enjoy playing it every now and then. When I park my vehicle in the lot, I remove everything and carry it in my golf bag. I've had my truck broken into in their lot and the Grand Prairie Police noted it was a frequent occurance. Nothing at the course faces the parking lot so it is open game for the seedier side of humanity. Just leave nothing that can be seen through the windows. Aside from that, the course is very playable for both the casual golfer and the lower handicap golfer.
This is the best golf value in town. If you dont know how to play in the wind dont go but if you like a challenging link course this is the place for you. This course is conveniently located close to highways and the DFW airport. When you in the Dallas area visit this course and you will not be disappointed.
Had a 10 am tee time on a Friday and took 2 hours and 40 minutes to play the front nine. During this time it was not uncommon to have 4 groups on one hole. Having endured this 2 hr and 40 min round my buddy and I decided we were not going to be able to play the back nine so we went in the clubhouse for a 9 hole rain check to come back at a later date. Not only did the general manager of the golf course tell us we were on pace and that the back nine played faster but that we were lying about how long it took is to play the front 9. Having spent 9 years in the golf business I was shocked by the way this guy was trying to discount every thing I was telling him. Needless to say after I educated him we received our rain check, not that I will use it at this point. So if you like 5 1/2 hour rounds of golf with rude management and so so course conditions this is the place for you!
