I just returned from the Sportsman Shooting Center at 1960 Enchanted Way, Grapevine Texas. The employee working with me was Jennifer. She was knowledgeable and was able to give me a few tips, which improved my shooting ability. Jennifer was also very polite and a pleasure to work with. Needless to say, I had a great time! It was quite evident that safety is the primary concern at this establishment. The staff was friendly and competent, and the facility was top notch. I would recommend this shooting facility to anyone.
They are rifle only facility. I went in with my handguns and was turned away. Just an FYI before you waste a trip like I did.
We took our two teenage boys here for a two hour experience. They have shot before and were ready to take it to the next level. Shane Johnson took care of us while we were there. Nice, clean, professional environment. My husband and both boys loved it! Our 14 year old said it was one of the greatest things he has ever done! Highly recommend!
My brothers-in-law and I went to the Sportsman Shooting Center facility on Saturday and had a great time. Here's a link:http://www.sportsmanshootingcenter.com/When we get there we notice it's a nice new facility and the folks working there are really nice. So they check our guns then we head down to the sight in tunnel. It's a 100 yard underground shooting lane that has some sort of computer/camera/infrared technology that tracks your bullet then puts it up on a computer screen. After a few shots it's gives you the average of your shots and tells you how much to adjust your scope. I planning on using this system to check in all my guns. It saves ammo and is very accurate. Then we go to the laser range. It's a small room with a projection on a wall where you fire a laser rifle with a red dot on a screen that shows various animals moving on a screen. At first you start with 1 animal moving across the screen. This system shows you how your barrel was moving, where you were aimed when you pulled the trigger and where the bullet will be when it finally impacts the animal. Basically they're showing you how to lead an animal based on speed and distance. After some practice we start doing doubles and triples. Finally the good stuff, the live ammo range. You use your own gun with your own ammo and shoot at moving targets just like you did in the laser room. This room is fairly large and the screen is 30 yards away. Again you start with 1 animal on the screen but it doesn't take long before they step it up to really challenge you. We even did some shooting races shooting at knock down targets seeing who finishes first. There are some real challenging scenarios of deer racing across a field. It was a lot of fun. I think we went through almost 100 rds each.I'd recommend everyone go try this. The practice you get would take you a lifetime to achieve from real world experience. The place is top notch, the people friendly and helpful, and the technology was awesome. The whole experience took 2 hours and it flew by. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out.
