We have been there twice. The first time was to see a movie on a Sunday afternoon. The price was good at $5. We don't usually buy the snacks, but our 5yr old wanted a water during the movie. I was shocked at the price of $3.75! The seats were pretty comfortable, but we had to move as the person behind us kept kicking our seats. The movie was extremely loud. I have a hearing deficit and it was even too loud for me. I couldn't wait for the movie to be over. Even the 5 yr old kept covering his ears. We walked over to the bowling side to check it out, but the loud music coupled with the pins being hit was just over the top! We had to get out of there. I took our son back to bowl about one week later. It was during the week and was much quieter. We did the bumpers for him. It is a little pricey with shoes being almost $4 each. The lanes seemed ok and they had a good selection of balls to use. We checked out the game area after bowling. Those games are WAY over priced! They ranged from $1.50-$3.00. Highway robbery! We will probably try another movie to see if it is always so loud.
Place is great movies, games there could be more but ok, bowling alley the great. Food no way, waited for every to be seated and when I went to asked to be seated like signs say all host were on Cell Phone. When seated I asked for tea and was brought a glass of tea with out any ice. I asked for unsweetened tea had to wait till after my food was brought to ask waitress for some sweetener for the third time. Food was no Bueno my wings had no flavor pizza didn't either. I will never eat there again.
Yeah, except here it was too loud on the day we went. And I'm not talking about the crowds or anything, just the bowling alley.Ok, ok, bowling alleys aren't known for being a good place to take a nap. Of course there is the pins dropping, the balls rolling, and people having a good time. Hell, that's why you go bowling. But at EVO, they have these HUGE flat screens at the far end of the lanes, all of them blasting LOUD, crappy country music. Sure, I'm not a fan of modern country music, but even if they were playing my favorite bands, it would have been too loud. Music when you're bowling is great - deafening music from 2-3 different bands while you're bowling is not so great.Other than that, the place is brand new, so it's still very clean and well maintained. I thought it was kind of pricey for 4 people to bowl for 2 hours, but when this is your only choice within 20 miles any direction, well, you do what you have to do.I do want to try seeing a movie there, and soon, so maybe I'll have a different take on things after that.
EVO has movie theaters with concessions & very comfortable seats, 12 bowling alleys, casual restaurant, pool table, air hockey, several arcade games & prizes. There is no entry fee, so parents can walk around to check it out. It's not too busy during the school day, so is a good time to catch a movie. Great web site to visit & learn more. Movie listings are at EVX.
The new EVO Entertainment Theatre in Kyle was long-awaited, and much needed. Opening a few months ago in November, 2014, it offers bowling, a small restaurant, a small game area, and several theatre options including one massive screen for a little more cost. Everything but the Theatres:The cost of the games is expensive compared to other places like Blazer Tag, Gattitown, Chuck E. Cheese, etc., and the variety and number of games is limited. It is more like a pit stop to pitch a few dollars down the hole as you wait for your movie, nothing more. The bowling experience is very standard, again with what seemed expensive to other bowling lanes like Westgate in S. Austin, and those in San Marcos. The restaurant offers a limited menu with lots of "hurry up and wait" time, and a reasonable but higher end cost for simple items. Theatres: Pretty good state of the art stuff. Tuesdays the tickets are $5 for all shows. If you upgrade for the big screen experience (60 feet they say) then it is $1.50 more. Regular ticket prices are $7.50 I believe. The extra money for the big screen is worth it to our family.Concessions:The staff is young, wide eyed, many from Hays High School, happy and upbeat, non apologetic for the outrageous food prices in concessions, and doing a great job. Concessions are slow for the oven items because there is only one oven for EVERYONE. Management needs to chip in for the second oven after spending millions on the venue! LOL The prices are high, there are no vending machines in the halls, and it is clear where their money is being made. Sadly, this has become standard for theatres. I can say that the pretzel I got for about $5 was filling, good, hot, and a "good buy" for a theatre.I noticed one thing about the card you can buy in the gaming area... When you buy a card for $20, or $50, or any other increment they ADD money to the card. This card can be used for the MOVIES as well. So instead of walking up and buying your ticket at the kiosk you should wander to your left, get the CARD, and have $5 added to your $20 card, or $15 added to a $50 card. THAT IS A GREAT DEAL!All in all, Kyle is lucky to have this venue, and the venue is going to be here for decades to come and will profit nicely from the surrounding communities before we are completely consumed by Austin. Thanks EVO people for choosing this location. We wish you many piles of money and to keep the jobs local for the students who really need them!GIVE IT A TRY!
This venue had a "soft" opening on Nov 21, 2014. We gave it a few days to settle down some of the newness of the mass crowds. Our family decided we would try out the bowling and the restaurant/food. Everything is new. The shoes were new and so were the bowling balls. It has been a while since we have bowled so bowling prices to me were high but you can't really beat new and clean so it balanced out. The hitch for us that night was that we ordered 1 item from the restaurant for delivery to our lane. We had 20 minutes left of bowling time when we placed our order and all we ordered was 1 boneless wings. We finished our game and then found some stools at the bar like tables that hold the bowling balls and waited some more. I would say about another 20 minutes passed before our wings were finally delivered. During this entire time our server was polite and came by every 5 minutes to apologize and kept on telling us the wings would be ready "soon". Just before our poor long delayed wings were delivered she came by apologized again and thanked us for being patient with their issues. We did ask at that point what the real problem was and she admitted there was a lack of cooks and help in the kitchen. Our wings arrived and they did not charge us for them. They were tasty and we liked the medium sauce and the celery sticks were crisp and fresh. We tipped her because it was not her fault and she was polite to us throughout this entire long drawn out time to get our order. Long story short---this place is great it has a movie theatre called EVX, an arcade, bowling lanes, and food/drinks. They are just very much working out the bumps of ironing out service and other issues. We intend to go back in about a month and give them another try.
