The folks at Lavanca Bluffs seem to be more interested in story telling than selling wine. We were treated to tale after tale of local history, but little about the wine itself. In their defense, we were in a bit of a hurry. The wine itself was not really worth the tasting fee being mediocre at best. We settled for a bottle of Matagorda, a very nice blueberry/Merlot blend.
4th of July weekend, My husband, Mother, & Father in law went to a wine tasting at the Lavaca Bluffs Vineyard & Winery. It was my "2nd" wine tasting in Texas. The staff was very knowledgeable and told us of the history of the wines, and the surrounding area. The scenery was beautiful and very relaxing! Just right, what we needed. Texas has a lot of history, and this was "on my bucket" list, had a great time. Plan ahead and setup with your family/friends will get you a 1-2 hour demonstration, as well as mingling around the gift shop. We came back to San Antonio with a bottle of La Belle peach chardonnay, Wild Mustang Portejas, Jalapeno Chardonnay jelly, and some coasters.
