gregg county historical museum

There are some great history nuggets at this museum designed to enhance the building that surrounds it. Great intro to Longview history.

We stopped here for a couple of hours before attending a football game in town. We were warmly greeted and had the museum all to ourselves. The exhibits about Longview during the oil boom are especially interesting. The price was $4-5 per adult. Admission has apparently recently gone up quite a bit based on the reviews I read that said it was $2 per person. There are discounts for students and senior citizens. I think this museum was just OK. Good if you have some time to kill but I wouldn't drive out of my way to see it.

What a pleasant surprise to find such a great little museum. Longview should be proud of it. The displays are well presented and very interesting. They give a good overview of the local history and community. It is well worth the stop for locals and visitors to Longview.

Nice example of local history and customs and tradition. Made history feel alive and see how far this area has come in its history.

We took 60 6th grade students to the museum for our ranch of year field trip. We all enjoyed the visit. The people who guided our tour were helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. They seem to love their job. The museum has interesting history and memorabilia from Longview, Gregg County, and some of the surrounding area.
