los ebanos ferry

I drove over 620 miles (Round trip) to ride on this ferry the boat itself is a bit rickety but still safe the staff were very helpful and interesting the whole experience was well worth the 620 miles to see and cross in this fashion

This is a real treat if you like historical things. It is one of the last hand river crossings around. It is very rustic as well as the town of Ebanos also... it is old, like time stopped. If you are a history buff, you should do this. Take your passport, a bike if you have one and have lunch in Mexico. It does not go if they are having high tides on the river.

Its The only ferry in the US that goes to another country. The people are very courteous and u can buy liquor in the US ride the ferry over and back go thru customs in @ 15 minutes no bridge down time.

If you want a little adventure this is it. Follow the signs to the ferry and the road meanders through some village type subdivisions. Not once were we scared are felt unsafe. At the crossing there is custom/border patrol. You can park and walk onto the ferry or you can drive your car on the ferry. We opted to pay a dollar each and walk down to the river bank to take pictures, we did not go across the river. There were a lot of local traffic using the ferry and the ferry can only accommodate 2 or 3 cars at a time.
