This is a nice park that you can take any out-of-town visitors and give them a little look at creek that runs through Round Rock. It has a trail that leads under I35 and over to Chisholm Trail and the actual namesake of the city (Round Rock). It's a little hidden however it's definitely a nice little park to visit.
We try to search out local history when we travel and finding the Round Rock was our mission. We first found it driving as it is seen from a busy, narrow road with no sidewalks or place to park. We ventured there on foot the following day from our hotel and dodged traffic and litter to get there. Why in the world they spent all that money on the park under I 35 and nothing to highlight the towns namesake rock is beyond me. We also found a very old cemetery within a few blocks and enjoyed walking among the tombstones of settlers born in the 1700s. Sadly the weeds were thigh high, but it was a great Halloween morning excursion.
Nice park in an unexpected location. It feels secluded even though I-35 goes over it, and is in a business district. The "round rock" that gives the community its name is near by. Lots of trees and shade from the Texas sun.
Love the quiet, serene feeling. You get a park and a walk along with history down the way towards the bridge visiting the round rock.
Enjoyed the scenery, and time spent there. It wasnt crowded, very relaxing. Has a playground, baseball field, and probably more but thats all I seen. A nice place to take a special friend for a walk and talk or have a seat on the benches next to the water and enjoy each other's company. Bring the kids and let them play at the park, walk your pet, or just kick back and soak it all in.
Way over-rated and difficult to get to. Would not recommend this one as there are other areas much nicer.
My dad and I decided to walk off dinner here and we're glad we chose it. Not crowded, enough wildlife to enjoy bonding with nature
Beautiful park w/nice walking trails. Has a submarine memorial and further down the walk is an extremely large rock w/plaque. The city was named after the large rock. Across the road from the rock is a waterfall. Plenty of ducks, bbq grills and picnic tables. Wonderful place for a family picnic. Also play area for the kiddos near the submarine memorial. This park is a must see. Bring bread or popcorn to feed the many ducks & squirrels that live in the park.
This park is alongside the creek. There is lots of shade and picnic tables, and there are usually ducks hanging around so we are always sure to bring a couple pieces of bread along. The play area itself isn't shady, so it can get pretty hot in the summer, but the play structure itself has good activities for the kiddos. It's also just a short walk away from the round rock itself.
Just down river from the round rock you have this nice little park. Follow the trails you see and you'll walk by old wagon wheel ruts in the stone and fossils in the creek. If you like wildlife you can see fish, turtles, squirrels and birds in this area. There is a nice playground and areas for family picnics. Much of the park is shaded by large trees, so it's nice even on hot days. The local stage theater is just above the park if you are around when they are performing and you want to grab a ticket.
Memorial Park is one of my kid's favorites. You can play in the playground, walk around the waterway, ride cardboard boxes down the concrete hill under the overpass, hunt for tadpoles in the pond, play baseball in the ballpark, check out the statues around the park, and barbeque on the grills.
