They keep their selection small, but the wines are quite good. Too many times you will go to a winery with many selections but nothing that tastes good.Highly recommend the dudes (and their dog) if you are in need of excellent Texas wine.Recommend one of the slush mixes on those hot summer days.

Make sure to get the directions that use route 80! I visited the winery when it was 104 out. I still wanted to sit on the patio outside the tasting room just to enjoy the atmosphere. The deck is nice, you can hear the river and the people floating on it. Nice place for a small to small medium wedding. Great people running it. I liked the atmosphere very relaxed and laid back. This is a fun winery not a stuffy one. Wines were good, not were over the top strong.

Wife and I came by at 4 PM and it is closed. Not very happy... call before wasting your time driving out!

The staff here is fun and friendly and the wine is amazing....ALL of it....you can't go wrong with a tasting. So affordable and great scenery right on the river!

I recently got married and had our wedding reception at Three Dudes. It was awesome, and a GREAT price compared to other wedding venues in the area. Jessie, the lady who works at Three Dudes and who helped us arrange everything, was wonderful, patient and very prompt in answering all our questions. She even helped us find a vendor for a tent when we were in a pinch. In addition to providing a great locale, Three Dudes contracts with Black's Barbecue in Lockhart (great food) for catering, and table, chair and linen rental is included in your cost, so less vendors you'll have to deal with, which is great for brides who can't afford a wedding planner like me!! They even helped us find some cake plates the day of -- which I didn't realize I had forgotten until after cutting the cake -- yikes! : ) Liquor isn't allowed, but you can bring your own beer for the reception and pick a few of their wines to serve -- they're very tasty. We had so many folks comment on how great the venue was, and on how much fun they had. If you're looking to get married in the Hill Country at a venue that's pretty, laid back and affordable, visit Three Dudes to see what all they have to offer. You'll be glad you did!

This place was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Jessie was sweet and helpful!! (hope I spelled the name right) I had a glass of Chenin blanc on the deck by the river and didn't want to leave!!!

This isn't your run of the mill winery. It's still new though opened in 2006. Still looks like its not well known. It's in a remote little spot outside San Marcos but sits alongside the San Marcos river which unfortunately was full of college kids blaring club music and screaming which kinda killed the ambience. Besides that it has a nice spread, rentable for special occasions or just get togethers. Wine was kinda great. I'm no wine connoisseur but Texas Black Gold puts other ports to shame. Try their Zinfandel and its honey, creamy taste won't disappoint. Not into dry wines but they are all tasting. A "premium" wine tasting is only $6 and a bottle is nothing to split with buddies. Wish there were more places to relax but it still looks like they are getting their feet wet. Very affordable.

The wines are tasty and very affordable! This place seems to attract all sorts of people from wine enthusiasts to the average college student. From my experience they have a great staff and awesome events!

Went to their Crawfish Boil and had a blast. Great food, great wines and great fun! Check them out the next time you are in the area. Their wines are reasonably priced and they have a covered area they rent out overlooking the San Marcos river

Went here with a coupon for free tasting. Wine was good to average, nothing special. Nice set up on the San Marcos River. Staff was friendly. Good place to go if your looking for something to do with an afternoon.

This was a nice little pit stop the day after our wedding. My brother who knows his wine really enjoyed the wines here. I love wine and am not picky and enjoyed the outside seating. Wish there was a bit more shade to choose from, but we had a nice time.
