I had a few issues with this place. First up was the fact that I really struggled to find it - I kept seeing signs along the way, but when I parked up outside the hangar I wasn't convinced I was in the right place. To this day, I'm stil not convinced - it'd explain a lot.The aircraft in the hangar were pretty good and, as evidenced by the mechanics, were all looked after well. However, I got a few odd looks as I was walking around that made me feel like I wasn't supposed to be in there. Nobody approached me to show me around or anything and it all felt a bit uncomfortable. I stayed about twenty minutes, took a few photos and then left out of sheer awkwardness.Good points: watch the aircraft undergoing maintenance.Bad points: hard to find, not the friendliest atmosphere.

Take a trip back in time. Annual Hangar Dance for Veterans Day. It is a great event, Big Band in 40's military uniforms, lots of folks dress in period clothing, Rosie Riveters, Military uniforms, swing dresses etc. Huge dance floor. Dancing clubs come from all around, some people just come to watch and enjoy the music. Huge plate of BBQ dinner included. It is one of our favorite events of the year.

Glad you enjoyed to visit and that someone was there to provide you a bit of additional information. We are aware that the hangar is in need of repair and we are working on that hope you will stop by again to see the improvements we are making in that area. Will say that part of the ambiance is the old WWII wooden hangar but some areas can be improved it only takes money and most of ours goes to our first priority aircraft. Hope you will stop in again a lot is changing.

Glad we happened to be there for you. A correction to your comment I believe you were there on a Thursday which was the day of the ad filming we are open every Wednesday our normal hours are 9-4 MWF and Sat. The Commemorative Air Force puts on a great dance every Veterans Day weekend. A big band plays 40's and 50's music and the "Andrew" Sisters sing the old songs. The men wear uniforms from all branches of the service and the ladies don their best 40's attire with hats and gloves. The swing music is great and the patriotic experience is not to be missed.

If you love military history, this is a fascinating stop. The men who work there couldn't be nicer. It is a grand effort to honor and remember our past.

It was a worthwhile stop. It was part of a birthday weekend of man things for my husband to enjoy doing. Several vintage aircraft and a museum type display area. The volunteers working on the planes and other machinery took time out to spend time visiting and sharing. We both enjoyed it very much.
