This museum is two stories with a theater that shows a 20 minute video on the Republic of Texas. The video is done really well and we enjoyed the sit down after all the walking we had done at the Washington-On-The-Brazos site. The museum is laid out nicely and they have some great ways of engaging children of all ages to keep them interested in the history they are looking at. The ladies at the front were super helpful and answered many of our questions. The Combo Ticket that includes the Star of the Republic Museum can be purchased at the Visitor Center, so go there first.

We were at the museum and convention center for the 2015 Texas Independence celebration. As my wife is a descendant of a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, the celebration takes on a special meaning. The museum and Washington on the Brazos park staff did a remarkable job in pulling this all together. The museum is rich with early Texas artifacts and related history. Certainly worth the trip, especially if you are in to Texas history. Very friendly staff, impeccably clean, onside and out, and a great souvenir shop. You won't be disappointed.

Got to love Texas history! This museum is run by Blinn College and is certainly worth the entrance fee. The movie was interesting, the first floor had a great overview of the Lone Star States humble beginnings as far back as the Native American Indians. Loved the upstairs area with all the artifacts. Great displays of medical tools, children's toys, farming equipment, fun Texas ads to watch on video and household items. Very interesting and educational.

This museum has relics on display from early Texas History, the Old 300, Texas Independence, and the Mexican War. It has an interactive room for the kids and begins with a short movie. I enjoyed the small hologram exhibit the best that shows faces talking and sharing personal experiences of what the life and times were like in early Texas. I would go back.

As you enter the star-shaped building, submerge yourself in the nation of Texas! To start your visit, watch a 20 minute film that takes you through the 8-year period of the Republic of Texas after gaining independence from Mexico. This is a great way to start this historical experience. The museum is full of artifacts from the period, from rifles to clothing. It even contains a swivel gun from a shipwrecked Spanish galleon. On the ramp leading to the second floor, a timeline illustrates events around the world, the United States, and Texas. The display is a unique way to show how world events impacted the history of Texas. On the second floor, there are many exhibits about daily life in Texas during the Republic. This is a great place for kids to learn though the interactive displays.Admission to the exhibit is $5.00 for adults. Children rates are also offered. If you are spending the day at Washington-on-the-Brazos, consider purchasing the Brazos Pass for $9.00, which includes admission to the Star of the Republic Museum, a guided walking tour of Independence Hall, and access to Barrington Living History Farm, all located within the State park.

This is a lovely architectural building set in the beautiful State park. It is fine for both adults and children. They even have a special discovery room to keep the little ones interested. The displays are set out in a way that everything makes sense. It does help to hear and see the short well produced video first before you tour the exhibition. This was very interesting for us as we are fairly new Texans and did not fully understand the beginnings of our great State. It was not crowded and we found it easy to walk around the area. There is also a very good museum visitors center which you should not miss. Lots of lovely things to buy and see, We understand from the very friendly volunteers that the children's old fashioned wooden toys are a great hit and often sell out.

After visiting the Park Visitor's Center and hearing the lecture about the founding of the Republic of Texas, we wondered what could be new in a museum. But, intrigued by the star-shaped building, we entered the museum and were utterly amazed. Not in this country or in Europe have we seen any museum present a story in a better fashion! The displays cover the land, both the indigenous people and each of the groups that after, even including surveyors. That one expects. But each is also featured in a typical home/building from which one can learn culture, arts and crafts, religious, business economy, family life, etc. The most outstanding feature is a long ramp leading to the buildings on the second floor that presents three synchronized time lines beginning in 1492; one of the events in Europe, one in the US, and one in Texas, for any given generation. We have all learned our history in bits and pieces; this puts it all into perspective. Awesome! This is a marvelous jewel of a museum.

This museum is an excellent presentation of Texas History for all ages. You could easily spend 2 hours here.

Even if my husband's a former Texas History teacher, and we've talked a lot about it, there's always more to learn. It was easy and fun here at the Star of the Republic Museum. The tour comes with a CD recording that guides you through. The exhibits were very clear and well presented, with even some "hands on" things with most of them. The temporary exhibit there right now is really "hands on" since it presents several toys that were available to children early in our state's history. Be sure to allow for at least a couple of hours for the whole museum. We only had time to see the first floor, but we plan to go back later to finish it up!

The exhibits were engaging and even though I am a history buff I was fascinated and learned quite a bit.

This is a hidden jewel in Central Texas! So much value about the birth of the state, a really nice and informative set of displays at the museum. A really great way to spend a day, picnic and a stroll around the grounds, plus you get to learn about the greatest state of the united states

$5 to enter, or $3 if you buy your ticket from the park visitors center. Definitely watch the video for a good intro to the events of the time period. Displays were very good, well worth the visit.
