We completely immersed and enjoyed our visit to this fabulous Ren Fest! The park is much larger now, and so many amazing artisans and incredible crafts to partake! We loved the street parade, which casually strolled among us and gave us a chance to meet and greet with these incredible Renaissance folk. What an amazing variety of madrigal musicians, royalty, unique naives, gypsys, and crazy comedy between. We loved the jousting and the belly dancing, and everything in between. It's best to come early, and plan to stay the whole day, as there's much to see.
Renaissance Festival full of fun and merriment. To enjoy it all in one day is possible, but two days would be better. The shows and actors are FABULOUS. The food is a little over priced, but that is expected at any type of entertainment venue. Plenty of parking and easy to locate off Hwy I35 in Waxahachie. Costumes are not required, but So much fun to come dressed to the hilt. Always a hoot to see everyone so happy and crazy.
The Scarborough Renaissance Festival is sure to give you just that…. MERRIMENT! Located in the great City of Waxahachie, TX on just over 35 acres, The Scarborough Renaissance Festival takes place during the months of April and May for 8 fun-packed weekends and is easily the 2nd best Renaissance Faire in Texas! Scarborough is always voted within the TOP 5 Renaissance Festivals in the country every year so I implore you to visit this faire and see for yourself why they continue year after year to do so. The weather during this time is perfect! The magic starts as soon as your chariot parks and I will add that parking is FREE! :)Once you arrive in the village of Scarborough you are instantly greeted by various members of the cast who are all extremely happy to have you as their guest during your visit. I will say this for Scarborough and The Oklahoma Renaissance Faire that they have some of the BEST actor/guest interactions in the country. The cast makes you feel at home with their welcoming attitudes! The faire and its vendors accept cash and most all major credit cards. I will say this that the pubs only accept cash so I advise bringing cash or hitting up one of the many ATM’s located throughout the village. VERY IMPORTANT: TIP THE BAR WENCHES! A lot of them only work for tips so please TIP them and they will make it known throughout the village you are a generous patron by yelling HUZZAH for the TIPPER!The food and drink in the village of Scarborough are priced accordingly and will NOT break the bank. Of course everyone has to have a Renaissance Faire staple (The Turkey Leg) but I suggest tasting some of the other food items available to spice things up a bit. COME ON! You’re at Renaissance Faire…. LIVE A LITTLE and try new things! Also…. Go for a craft beer, not a typical Miller or Bud… again… LIVE A LITTLE! I would also suggest sampling some Mead from some of the various vendors or pubs located in the village… I can promise that you will NOT be disappointed!I’ve said this in other reviews but this remains true for Scarborough as well. The actors, merchants, and play-trons are what make this faire what it is. I would also highly recommend if you do not own a costume, find what peeks your interest and purchase one from one of the many great vendors or just rent one to test the waters. 35 acres is a lot to take in folks so again, I suggest making a weekend out of this and spending all day to really take everything in so you get the best experience possible! There are numerous shows/vendors to visit and I highly suggest you visit them all. There are a lot of little side shows often taking place throughout the faire as well that tend to move around throughout the village so I am sure you will come across them and enjoy! The King Henry Tudor and his sister Margret Tudor can often be seen moving throughout the village often taking part in various events such as Knighting ceremonies for young children, etc… Feel free to have a chat with his majesty and his sister as they are extremely friendly and love patron interactions! There are several notable characters throughout the village and one mischievous leprechaun causing trouble so beware! :)Still not sold yet? If my review hasn’t stirred the “sleeping giant” within you, check out the Fandemonium episode on The Scarborough Renaissance Faire to perhaps give you a better outlook on what the faire has to offer! Copy and paste the link and enjoy!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irxqLX4i_34 I hope to see you at one of the Faire’s soon and if you recognize me… feel free to say hi! :)~Mr. “Renaissance”~
Every year its keeps getting better! If you have young children they will love it and there is plenty to do. Plenty of interaction with the "locals" and great food to sample. It is usually pretty hot and they have plenty of stations with water.
Our entire family gather from around Texas to enjoy the Faire! Grandma's to Grandchildren enjoying the relaxed fun environment. Everyone is friendly and smiling. The food is good if expensive. Bring lots of money for drinks.
This is one of my favorite experiences. Great comraderie, fun things to do, good food, good shopping. Management strives for authenticity which adds even more the the exprience of stepping back in time. This a great value as well as the tickets are very reasonable. Dressing up for this event is an added benefit but not a requirement. The activities available are varied and there are things for kids to do as well as special activities such as wine tastings for adults. Kids can be knighted by the King and Queen. Staff here is very friendly and a lot of fun. The same can be said for those loyal patrons that attend on a regular basis. This faire is a little more family friendly then others I have visited but that does not make it any less appealing to the adult visitors. Will always revisit this faire. Kudos to those responsible for it as they continue to strive every season to improve this fair.
Scarborough Faire is still one of the best entertainment values around! We have been going for over 25 years--first as a married couple, later with a baby, toddler, young child, and now pre-teens. It is a beautiful outdoor venue, with fabulous entertainment, food, adventure, old-fashioned crafts & workmanship, & fun. I highly recommend it to adults & families. It can be a totally different experience for each and every group.
So many enchanting things to see and do! The entertainment (both on stages and strolling performers) is wonderful. The costumes, of both the staff performers and the visiting guests are beautiful, just fascinating. The weather can be surprisingly hot, wear hats/sunscreen and bring water. A lovely spot to recover is The King’s Pub (Crown Meadow at the Crown Kitchens). Sample the lilting Pear Cider and wash down a plate of Bruschetta with one of the Pubs great ales while listening to harp music. Just lovely!
Great Experience! A WONDERFUL way to spend a Spring Day!What fun, with something for everyone of every age.My advice is to seek out the unusual. There is so much more than just the jousting and the turkey legs.
The cast is amazing and are great performers! We love coming here, the fair is so well kept and there's all sorts of magical happenings throughout the day! Great for all ages. You can tell the staff really loves this place.
We love going to the faire. They have the best performers there that will make you laugh all day long. Love eating the great food, and seeing all the different costumes.
Loved that many people were dressed in period costumes. You could rent costumes if you wanted. Program showed Activity times and places with a map of the grounds. The grounds are separated into 3 areas so I wasn't overwhelmed by the size of the Faire. Plenty to see, eat and do, including shops to peruse for clothes and beer mugs. There was only one area with flush toilets. Other rest areas were porta-potties that were grouped as either men or women (nice) and had soap and water.
I have never been to a more magical place. I love visiting the Scarborough Faire weekend after weekend and can never tire of being there. I only know now after being able to visit over the season that the people, the atmosphere, and all of the performers are very much a part of creating this magical place. The smiles are genuine & the love that everyone has shows throughout the Faire. My family have come to love being here weekend after weekend. With so many shows, games, delicious food that makes you feel as if you have really taken a step back in time. There is plenty for all ages, whether traveling with friends or the entire family you will always be busy and never get bored here at the Scarborough Faire. Plan on 2 days if ever available because you just cannot squeeze one day into this place.
This was a fun little experience. We definitely recommend going at least once. The parade was our favorite part. I was annoyed with how much beer and everyrhing else was inside considering the cost of admission. We were disappointed the jousting schedule was spread so far out. Dont let this deter you though, it was a wonderful experience!
This place is definitely worth visiting. There is so much to see and do. Lots of shops, good food, entertainment. There is a glassblowing workshop, birds of prey show, petting zoo, rides that are human powered, archery, a parade, music, museum. I can go on and on. I think I have been to Scarborough Faire at least once or twice a year for the last 15 years. Never disappoints.
