It was cold and rainy on our trip and we found this gem to keep us warm. We saw a show called "Wait Until Dark." The play was great and the set was lovely. The actors came out to meet us after the show which was also nice and not something I am used to being from a a big city! Support the ARTS!
Along with a friend, we have had season tickets for several years so catch most of the performances. The actors do a great job, sets are excellent and the play choices are very good. Recently saw "The Odd Couple" and it was fantastic. Wimberley is very lucky to have some very talented people in the area who are willing to spend the time to put on these productions, from acting to creating the sets - thank you! Now, the seats. They are wood, small and spaced close together. Being a tall person, my knees almost touch the back of the seat in front; they are the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. Fortunately, our seats are on the front row or I'd never attend. It's very close to the edge of the stage, but the leg room is worth it.
fabulously talented group! No big city can boast a better group of incredibly talented actors, singers, writers, performers, they've got it all. Wear a sweater, it's always cold.
Seats about 100, saw the Odd Couple and thoroughly enjoyed. Great local actors, and high quality sets, lighting, sound...all good. Would have been nice to enjoy a glass of wine...no food and beverage..
Again, we were looking forward to seeing a local show but they were in between productions. Next time I hope they have something going on so we can enjoy it.
First time to this theater. The actors were good but wasn't impressed with the play. The staging and set up was impressive. May try again.
While spending our winters here in Wimberley Texas, we have seen two show at this playhouse. At Christmas time, we saw "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" and last evening, we say "Charlie's Aunt". The quality of the performances for both were outstanding and I would highly recommend it. All the hard work and showmanship is evident in the performance. The latest performance runs for 4 more weeks and I hope you can find the time to attend.
We saw "The Taming of the Shrew", and were knocked out by the quality of the staging and the acting. Way, way ahead of any community theater effort I've ever seen- a fine Shakespearian production.
This is a small town community theater that has the talent of a much larger city. I guess its partly because they can pull from Austin and San Antonio and in between. Their shows are reasonably priced and very much worth the price. The online ticketing process is simple and you get to pick your own seat. The theater itself is small, therefore feels very intimate. Its not the most comfortable theater, but there is not a bad seat in the house. If in town during a show, I highly recommend it!
