OK. I'm from Dallas and it is in the middle of nowhere; but, don't let that stop you from going to play. As others have said, the complete staff is friendly and welcoming. The course condition is spectacular. I visited on a Monday and that will impact some of your visit (more later). I'm 70, played from the Blue Tees, am a single digit handicap and found it challenging and fun. The first three holes lull you with normal straight holes among trees (Par 4,5,4). Enjoy them and then take a deep breath. You now start toward the water (the lands end) and most holes will now start to be impacted by water, more hazards and wind. As others say, beware #8, a sharp dogleg right with minimal landing area and deceiving distances. Keep the ball at or slightly to the left of the 150-yard marker or you likely will be surprised to be unable to locate your drive. Hole #9 is so far out on a point into the water that you will park your cart some distance back from the green and walk up. I had a blast playing the course and would go back in a blink. But, on Monday, there is no food service and I was stranded playing all day and finding nothing to eat. Granted, the cart girls do come around far more often than most courses. If you go on a Monday and will be there at lunch, take something with you. And, it seemed like Monday is mowing day so be prepared for mower noise in the background. The fairways were some of the best I've played in months; perfectly manicured so the ball sits up like on the pro tour. The tees were well mowed, flat and level. The traps were well maintained and reasonable to make a decent save. When I played, the greens had been aerated and were a little bumpy but surprisingly decent in that it had been only five days since sanded. Hole #15 green has some damage on the front that can impact a putt if the pin is located in the front half. If on the back, it should putt well. Would I go again? Absolutely, in fact, I am already making plans to visit again in the next four weeks or so.

Great golf, well maintained grounds, very challenging course. Cart girl will come by several time this is a must can not get stuck out in the Texas sun without something to drink.Staff is friendly, the food is normal nothing fancy just good food. Just an overall great place to spend the day. Watchout for number 8 do not get a big head on this hole it will bite back.

This place is ideal for a get away with friends. We did a package of all-you-can-play golf and stayed a night in their "lodge". The lodge (I believe there are actually two lodges) consist of 6 hotel rooms (Each lodge would sleep 12) with exterior entrances that all open up onto a central common area. You can leave your door closed and locked if you are there alone and do not want to share the common area, or you can open all the doors and have a large mingle among the rooms feel like we did. The rooms were nice and had plenty of room. The Links were not easy. Keeping the ball in the short grass is always the idea, but especially important here because of the tall rough. I lost 3 balls during the four rounds simply because the grass was so thick. I found another by stepping on it. Water is in play on most holes and sand is prevelant. This is a challenging course that is also very player friendly. Links style has "turn" that most have been acustomed to with a stop by the clubhouse half way through the round. The cart girl came around no less that 6 times each of our rounds, so you are not stuck out there without liquid refreshement. Pro shop staff was friendly and helpful. It is REMOTE when looking at it on a map. WORTH IT!

The best food in the Lake Fork area. The chef will cater to your desire. Try the Salmon or the Prime Rib. You will lick your fingers. In the mood for Yoga? The owner, Bacca, is an instructor there.

I am not a golfer, but the husband and granddaugher (high school varsity player) always seem to come back with a smile when they play the Links at Land's End and that is not always a given as golfers know.
