It is intimate and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Great acoustics, generous number of bars on all floors, comfy seats with cup holders (unless you get a tickets on the floor - can't speak to that as we always sit in the balcony), modern and clean restrooms. The upper lobby is filled with professional photos of musicians that are fun to peruse while you wait for your show. Ticket prices are generally very reasonable. Easy parking nearby and plenty of places to eat beforehand. Highly recommend.
Went to see rock concert in November. Beautiful site.parking was easy.seats were very close togetherand prices for drinks were on the high side.but overall we had a great time.
If you are a music buff, you've likely heard of ACL at the Moody Theater and it lived up to it's reputation as one of the best venues for live music. Intimate setting (didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house), incredible sound, great bar menu and area, and a killer view from the concourse overlooking the streets below. It's a must-do when visiting Austin. We were lucky enough to see the Braun Family Thanksgiving show with Mickey and the Motorcars and Reckless Kelly, all of which are hometown favorites. It was a rollicking, energetic show and we were glad to not have missed it.
While visiting Austin, we bought last minute tickets to the ACL Live Country Christmas Show. We opted for front row balcony, and never having been to the venue, we hoped the view would suffice. Well, the view certainly sufficed. There truly is not a bad seat in the house. The venue is taller than it is deep, so all attendees feel close to the stage. The sound system is crystal clear and bar & lounge area is swanky and clean.
My 1st visit to the Moody Theater was for Ringo and the Allstars and it was totally awesome! Even though we had upper balcony seats which you would normally consider "the nosebleed" section, these seats above the right side of the stage had a fabulous view and despite the capacity of this theater, it still felt like a small intimate gathering. The sound/acoustics were amazing. We were kindly reminded that only still photos were allowed during the concert, no video please. There was a security "wand scan" and purse search before entering the facility so leave your Glock/Smith & Wesson at home. For all the TV fans there is an Austin City Limits skyline backdrop for picture posing and you can show that you were there! I'm reviewing the theater itself which exceeded all my expectations & seemed to be all state-of-the-art, so even though Ringo and the boys put on an excellent show, the Moody Theater served the show & us well! Check it out!
I went here to attend a concert here & I immediately got the House of Blues vibe of intimacy. It was great. Like the website states, no seat is more than 30 feet from the stage. I did a general admission show & when I looked up, the seats didn't look too far way. I would come back here for sure for another show.
I've been to several concerts there. The first balcony is great - not too crowded, great view, bars right behind the seats.
Brilliant concert. Great seating, food available outside before the concert, bars inside, could take drinks into the theatre
Of course the music is top notch but I have to give a shout out the theatre itself. I love everything about it. The lighting, the shape, the views from the seats, the ample number of bars, the louneven the bathrooms.
Seen several shows here never been disappointed. Not a bad seat in the house. Clean restrooms too, important to me in a theatre. The bar is everywhere, always friendly bartenders, but drinks are very pricey. Highly recommend this theatre for their variety of show offerings. Fun, fun place to go with friends, and family. Great location too.
Not a bad seat in the house. even from the upper balcony you are right on top of the action. I saw a tribute to Jimi Hendrix here and it was fantastic. Small venue under 3,000 seats. Very different than I am used to as you can just go from your seat to the end of the aisle to get a drink. Very good idea. It is very clean and just overall well kept. Crowd also was very into it which made everything so much better
I was suitably impressed when we went to see Jethro Tull last month here. We usually stay away from downtown Austin on a weekend, just because of the hassle factor. But, was really surprised at how easy this venue is to come and go from. There's a parking garage right next door, the entrance and exit is well thought out, so no crowd-pushing. There's an elevator to the upper level that makes taking older guests comfortable. And the theater itself is very well designed. Not too many bad seats and feels intimate. It doesn't have a lot of aesthetic aesthetic beauty, and it's a little dark, but the whole focus was on the performer and the acoustics and they succeeded in creating a perfect venue. Comfortable seats. Concessions, were fast and easy to purchase. Drinks were reasonable. Sound was excellent. I'd go to any concert here without hesitation. Had a great time.
We were here for Ian Anderson on ACL. The house didn't seem to have a bad seat. We were in the balcony, and I felt like we might have had better seats than anyone not in the frontrow seat on the floor. The sound wasn't overwhelmingly loud - which to me was too bad. We had a great time.
I was here for a Childish Gambino concert on October 4, 2014. The venue is not too big, so no matter where you sit, you're not all that far from the performer. The outside appearance was very nice as well as the inside. No elevator that I saw though. We had to walk up 3(I can't remember for sure but I think it was 3) flights of stairs to get to our balcony seats (the highest seats). I loved it!
Not a bad seat in the house - and the acoustics were amazing! We saw Santana there with his 10 piece band! Excellent concert!
