I usually find rides like this very enjoyable and can see beauty everywhere. Maybe I was expecting more from the previous reviews, maybe i was turned off by the lady in the visitor's center in Fredericksburg that frowned when we told her we wanted to go here and she said the ranchers have pulled the wildflowers out to discourage tourists, maybe it was a grey day, maybe because we just left Big Bend National Park and had spectacular drives- whatever the reason i was disappointed in the drive. it was a nice countryside ride, but nothing spectacular. i imagine there are other drives similar in the area..we did, however stop at Luckenbach in time to hear 5 or 6 country singers jamming outside the post office. it was a great ending to a day of shopping in Fredericksburge, driving the countryside and a good local beer!

The drive was peaceful and saw many beautiful scenes for pictures. The hills and valleys were inspiring.. One great place not to be missed is the ranch that has old boots as fence post toppers, just great!!!!

Willow City Loop is about 12 miles outside of Fredericksburg and about 12 miles long. Go when the wildflowers are in bloom and you will not be disappointed. The road is curvy and narrow in spots so stopping to take pictures is not allowed.

The title of my review applies to me, too! I've been traveling to Fredericksburg since the 1980's, and it wasn't until 2013 that I finally drove the Willow City Loop! Now I drive it each time I visit the area as it provides some of the best Hill Country photography.Word of caution, the Willow City Loop cuts through private ranch land. DO NOT venture off the road. Enjoy the countryside from your car, motorcycle, or bicycle (for the very adventurous), and only stop to take a few pictures.

If you have Fredricksburg as a home base and you do things in the area, this is one of the best things you can do.

First off I want to acknowledge that without TA we would have never experienced this place. With.my family in fredricksburg for a day in which we had planned to visit enchanted rock state park but found out it was closed that one day for permit hunts. Plan B, let's ask TA. Found this place and the reviews were very favorable. The drive is fantastic and the views are changing constantly so it keeps.your senses busy. Saw lots of deer but no wild flowers since we visited in the winter. No traffic no problems just a perfect getaway and my wife and kids loved it. If you like nature, wildlife, and nice views then this is a must see. Make sure you are not low on fuel as it will took us about an hour to make the drive with no traffic.

When Texas wildflowers are in bloom this is undoubtedly one of the best places to see them. April/May but check with local wildflower watch lists. The road is private and there is no stopping along the way. Avoid weekends and you might be able to take a quick photo from the car without holding up traffic.

Every year we do an all-day motorcycle trip through the Loop. Last 2 years there were no wildflowers. Rumor has it the locals removed the flowers to restore privacy. (Traffic was getting out of control on the weekends.)

Beautiful views down a narrow country road. Very crowded when the bluebonnets are out. Motorcyclists - leave yourself plenty of room in front. The cars stop quickly to see the flowers. Well worth a springtime drive.

Scenery I didnt know we had in this area. Was told to go there for the bluebonnets. The flowers were beautiful and the scenery was spectacular. A new place to take visitors.

Ended up here to replenish my water bottles while on a cycling trip. The proprietor welcomes us, was more than happy to chat and tell us the history of the bar and area. Great place that I will certainly visit again and stay to eat. Well worth a visit, the building itself has great character

Fantastic scenery and wildlife that you are not going to find anywhere else in Texas. Honestly. You do not want to miss this drive.

If you arrive for wildflower season, this is the place to be. The road actually crosses the many ranches and for that reason you are asked to stay on the road and not park anywhere. The weekends require the sheriff's deputies to keep it moving so my suggestion is to come during the week. It is a pretty drive all year long even without wildflowers. You get a taste of Hill Country scenery and the chance to enjoy a quiet drive.

We had read that in previous years that the wildflowers were spectacular on this loop. However, the extreme drought resulted in very few flowers for this season - only cacti and scrub bushes. As everyone knows the abundance of wildflowers depends on the rain.

In a lot of respects this is a very simple drive and at this time of year no wild flowers, but we really enjoyed it, I got a real flavour of Texas countryside and ws really happy that we had bothered to look this drive up.
