If you like shopping during traveling it could fit with you, be aware that you will find lovely things that will catch your eye (and wallet). If you prefer to find historical places you will be walking around shoppers and getting diverted to adjacent places. If you visit Fredericksburg for sure you will walk the street since must people find ut a muat, I can go with driving by and avoid the effort.
The shops were interesting but bring plenty of $$$some stores appeared to have the same type of items particularly clothing
Spent the day here after a business trip to San Antonio. Lots of super cute tourist shopping and cute restaurants. Not a lot of bargains here but still fun shopping and people watching. dogologie was a great store for us animal lovers. Lovely clothes jewelry and home decor. The Nimtz museum at the end of the street is great. Pretty drive into hill country too! Loved
I read some of the other reviews.. yes, its pricey to eat and shop here. Yes, its very cute. yes, it can get crowded on a busy afternoon. its also a lot of fun! a wide variety of shops to explore and places to eat. Most of the people are Texas Friendly. We had a great time, and looking to come back soon. We drove around outside of town as well and saw some beautiful views and lots of deer. The whole town is wonderful to visit.
I love the cute shops and German culture present in the town. Make sure you try some apple strudel while you shop!
I liked walking down the beautiful main street but there were too many expensive, touristy items instead of any real charm.
There were a lot of over-priced items. We had hoped to find more original souvenirs and less trendy items - and more affordable antiques and such.
We spent over 5 hours touring the stores, shopping, looking, eating and enjoying the day on Main Street. Also very good people watching. Most of the shops had coverings over the sidewalk so it was sheltered from the light rain, also plenty of benches for resting if needed. The variety of shops is very good and fortunately the chains have not taken over yet. In all we had a good time.
Wish it was less new and more old! So few antiques and so many clothing and jewelry shops, a little disappointed but enjoyed it none the less
We spent 2 nights/3 days. Might have included an extra day. Restaurants are great - shopping even better. The weather was not the best, but we made the best of our time. Most shops have a little roof over the sidewalk, so if it is raining, you can walk under that roof to keep yourself dry. Very different shops - out of the ordinary goods, be it clothes, crafts. There are wine tasting shops, but we opted to go to the wineries directly. There is also a wonderful wine shuttle van, just to be safe. Hope to return one day!
Lots of shops and wine tasting places. We had bad weather, so we did not explore as we could have, though.
This s is by far one of the prettiest little towns in Texas and my family and I have been going for years. The best time to go is in the spring and fall or whenever its not too hot. Also its really busy in Tue summer on weekends and can get crowded. The shops are a lot of fun and there's tons of places to go and see and spend money. Remember that this is a tourist attraction too and they are there for money. The candle shops are fun foe the kids.
This little downtown has the cutest little shops and resturants. Also, there are many wine tasting rooms to hit during your day of shopping and sightseeing.
We were pleasantly surprised with downtown Fredericksburg when we first drove into town. It has so many fun and interesting shops and restaurants. We are planning a trip back to finish up looking at the rest of the town. We didn't have time to see everything in half a day of visiting.Worth the time and drive.
Nice downtown...worth a morning or afternoon stroll to see what's around...charming shops and restaurants.
