st. mary's catholic church

A very charming church, and appeared to be lifted right from the German countryside and planted in Texas. Take time to look at each of the windows and admire the paintings throughout. But make to also visit the original St. Mary's next door (the smaller one). If you're expecting a small country church, the original St. Mary's fits the bill!

Small compared to the great Cathedral's in Europe but very pretty and worth the time to stop go inside and enjoy the beauty. The stain glass window are very nice.

One of Texas's painted churches, and very fine it is. Obviously loved by the community it serves. I thought the bold stained-glass windows rather detracted from the delicate painting of the walls and ceiling. but I wouldn't have missed the two windows above the altar that show a little German girl and a little German boy.

This is the only painted church in Fredericksburg and is very beautiful. Attached is a new hall w/complete kitchen. The hall can be divided. Has a nice size lobby and restrooms. The hall is rented out.

Very nice place for visiting services. Has all the Old World charm you would expect in a hill country church.

My wife and I enjoy weekend Mass at this beautiful cathedral-styled church. It is on the tour of "hand painted" churches in Texas. The community is large and welcoming. Good energetic priests.

What a beautiful church. Richly decorated both with the old wood and architecture, as well as the Christmas decorations. What a wonderful Mass.

Mass was being held and like many of these catholic churches, you will not be disappointed. It's within walking distance from most sights near the shopping district. So check it out!

Attended Mass here while we were in Fredericksburg. It is an architectural gem of a church and well worth a visit. Stopped in the original church building next door after Mass as well. Father McKenna gave a great homily and really has a lot of passion. Look forward to the next time we can celebrate Mass there!!

This is the westernmost example of the german/czech/polish painted churches. Great architectural gem set in a ah historic town.

St. Mary's Catholic Church was beautiful. Well worth the time for a visit. The church has a very quaint setting and the architecture is very nice.

Attended a beautiful wedding here. Father McKenna is very personable. The church is amazing to look at. Was built in 1902. The new community center next door is perfect for large receptions. It was completed in 2012.

The smaller church with the plain blue stained glass windows was simple, yet beautiful and peaceful. The larger church has the stained glass more ornate, the church itself quite beautiful as well. Wooden pulpit, curved stairs and carvings worth seeing.

very pretty. requires a short amount of time, right on the main street. 15 minutes to take pictures and read the historic marker is all you need
