and this was the second time this business has had horses seized...JAMAICA BEACH, Texas -Habitat for Horses, an equine sanctuary in Hitchcock, is caring for 28 neglected horses seized from a business on Jamaica Beach. The horses were found in a large pen and picked up on Tuesday. They were malnourished and losing their hair. The animals are normally used by a horseback riding business, S-n-G Horseback Riding. The owner of that business, Terri Glenn, was arrested Tuesday. She is charged with cruelty to livestock animals and is being held in lieu of $7,500 bond. A hearing is scheduled in 10 days to determine whether Glenn can keep her horses. The owner of Habitat for Horses told Local 2 that the horses were eating a lot on Thursday. Some of the horses are in bad shape, and all are extremely underweight. The Galveston Police Department plans on filing additional charges but is waiting to complete its investigation.
Galveston Daily News posted a story.... horses were taken by Habitat for Horses...... animal neglect.......
tThank God for Habitat for Horses , this article was posted Jan 22, 2015 It maybe verified with Habitat for horses and with Galveston Police Dept. The owner was charged with neglect and 27 horses were seized and taken Habitat for horses . 3 of the 27 were in fair shape the others in very bad shape. This is not the first time this business has been fined. If in doubt you can verify this and more.
My wife and I just had the best time riding Hidalgo and Baby. They were well trained and the trail boss (CJ) took the time to explain everything very well. We are thinking about making a yearly thing for our anniversary. THANKS S-N-G!!!
Been trying to get ahold of someone for almost a month now. Have called different days at different times to try to get through. Left two or three voicemails. At this point our vacation is in less than a week, and you can bet a certain other place nearby will be getting our business. Please get off your facebook and answer your phones, and your business might not be doing so badly that you are constantly posting begging for donations of money and supplies. Just a suggestion.
I wanted to do something fun and memorable with the kids over winter break. A friend recommended horseback riding on the beach with S-n-G, so we decided to go. I had my 15 and 5 year old boys, it was their first time riding and both of them had a blast! T.J. our guide, was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and helpful and he was really good with the horses. Me and my youngest rode Baby, and she was perfect for us, very gentle and followed directions easily. T.J. and my oldest rode Silver and Quitta, and they even went for a good trot in the ocean and we took pictures. Afterwards they got to feed the horses apples and carrots. If you've never gone before, I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed! My kids are still raving about their ride and showing off the pictures. I will definitely go back and recommend S-n-G Horseback Riding to all my friends!
Was very disappointed, everything was set to go. We called for directions and they told us that they had canceled our ride. If we hadn't called they wouldn't have told us they had canceled! Their reason for canceling was because it was to wet and cold. It had rained lightly the day before but it was dry today. I live up north and own horses and 55 degrees and cloudy is not dangerous. Don't expect them to go out on a chilly day.
Visited SNG a few years back & it was the highlight of our vacation. We were camping nearby & I called them up & they signed us up for a ride the next day. They were friendly, courteous, & helpful. The horses were amazing & well cared for. We had the best ride along the beach. I'm still telling people about our great experience at SNG!
Sng is an awesome company! My family and I have been riding with them for 3 years. We've seen them when they were up and down. They are a family owned business and I love that her kids are working with her and learning responsibility and entrepreneurship! Everyone including hired hands are friendly and great to ride with. Prices are great and the horses are beautiful! You can't beat horseback riding on the beach! Thanks SnG!
I rode with this company over the summer. After several phone calls that went straight to a full answering machine, I decided to try sending an email to book a ride for 5 people, including someone in the military. No response. The day before we wanted to ride I was finally able to get a hold of someone. They did not seem too concerned when I told them it took me a week to get anyone on the phone. They did not take any names just told us when to come and some policies. They would call that morning of our ride to confirm. That afternoon I let my family know, and my sister in law let me know she thought they moved their company to a new location. Strange, they never told me that and I wasn't finding anything about it on their website either. The morning of the ride they called to confirm our group and finally gave us some directions and an address. A little late don't you think? Would've been nice to have an updated website with updated information so we could plan better. The ride was nice, horses great. Staff was okay -- the guy who took us out was a little sarcastic and joking about the 2 late comers in our group of riders. Overall we all had fun and enjoyed our time. Now though has been the last straw and I will never recommend this company to anyone. When you own an business and have a business Facebook, you keep it as just that. You advertise your business. I am tired of seeing the badly misspelled, mis-punctuated statutes updates from a 'business owner' complaining about customers, supply guys and everything else. Oh, and now begging for money to keep this business running. It's funny because you always hear about a lot of people getting way too personal on Facebook, but the only person in my friends doing it is this lady!
I have tried to get ahold of these individuals for months to have questions answered & make a reservation. I've called, left a message, left an email & they still haven't responded to any questions or reservation information. While I understand it may have been in slower season, (started questions in Oct.) They still refuse to respond. So until I'm able to actually get a hold of an actual person, not a machine I keep my review as is.
Charles and Jason did an amazing job at making my boyfriend and I feel comfortable on silver and Quata.i was extremely nervous and they went above the norm to make sure I was okay on the horse. Both horses are beautiful and I would definitely recommend my family and friends to try this place.
We had a great time on our ride. Our guide jason was great and very knowledgeable. We will come again.
My boyfriend and I scheduled a sunset ride on Labor Day. He has never ridden before, and Jason took time to teach him the basics. The horses had a very calm demeanor (perfect for a relaxing ride on the beach!), but they would get a little pip in their step if you wanted them to. Another couple had canceled so we ended up getting a private ride. Jason and Bug are very friendly and nice to talk to. They would let us go ahead and trot the horses or take them in the water. Bug was so kind to line up our horses and take pictures for us! We had a lot of fun! It was nice to ride with a company that is laid-back. Other places I have been wouldn't even let you trot the horses. There wasn't really any traffic on the beach which made the ride very peaceful. We had a great time and have already talked about planning another trip.
We called ahead to book an appointment as we left from our house in Katy (2 adults 2 teenage kids) , we didn't get an answer but left a message anyway. After reading some of the reviews we didn't hold out much hope for a reply however about an hour later we got a call back and were given directions and an appointment for 3pm! When we arrived we stood about for 5 mins before a young man approached and said they were just waiting for another couple to come then we would get started, In the mean time we were free to feed the horses as we'd brought carrots with us.At this point I was wondering what we'd let ourselves in for as I didn't feel the conditions the horses were being kept in was very good and there was a very aggressive Alsatian dog tied up at one end of the trailer going nuts when you went near it to feed the horses!Eventually our guide gave up waiting on the other couple to arrive and gave us a brief safety/handling lesson then got us saddled up! The ride along the beach was very pleasant and we walked along for 20-25 minutes before stopping where our guide took some pictures with our own camera we had brought then we walked back. I chose to take my horse into the water on the way back as it was very hot, not far, just enough to get his hooves wet and I felt he had a bit more of of a spring in his step. All 4 horses were very well behaved on the walk and didn't give us any problems at all.To summarize .... We had a nice time and our guide was very pleasant and happy to answer any questions we had, also it was good value for money but I can't for the life of me understand why it's the no 1 tripadvisor activity in the Galveston area! Surely this area has more to offer?
