TXBohemian visited late on a frozen Lubbock night to pay tribute to a true pioneer of rock and roll. Stop by, and remember an innovator that died too young, but left a lasting mark on Rock and Roll.
The best part was the big "chalk board" entitled "Before I die..." it was covered with hopes and dreams of visitors to the Walk of Fame...not a single piece of unpleasant graffiti.
The Buddy Holly statue was worth the stop !! The area is well kept, there is plenty of parking and great photo op's. A chalk board area allowed visitors to make comments about, "what I want to do before I die". Surprisingly there were no vulgar comments. I was impressed Lubbock !!
Another "must see" if you visit Lubbock. Many people in that hall of fame, and the picture with Buddy Holly is a must!
The statue and Walk of Fame is just across the street from the Buddy Holly Center. It's a small display naming local celebrities and more famous people from the area. Probably not worth a special trip unless one knows these celebrities, but easy and okay as a n add-on to seeing the Buddy Holly Center.
Two of us visited this after visiting the Buddy Holly Center next door. If you visit the BH Center you should walk across the street to see this. It was a beautiful day and a good one to get your picture taken next to the Buddy Holly Statue.
Ideally located next to the Buddy Holly centre - a tribute to all. It features stars for a large number of great musicians
Every Buddy Holly fan and West Texas music history buff should go see this. There is an unbelievable constellation of early Rock-n-Roll and Country Western stars from or connected to Lubbock.
The Buddy Holly Statue and West Texas Walk of Fame is located in the Depot District in Lubbock, TX. Makes great photo shoots. Nice walking in the Depot District. There are many shops available of shopping.
Nice little park in a bad warehouse area of town trying to come up in the world. Lucky for us there was a Farmers Market that day and it saved the morning to a dull day in Lubbock
This is a genuine visit spot for music fans. The plaza is well laid out. We enjoyed adding this to our brief stopover
This area is easy to get to, and it gives a nice tribute to Buddy Holly. It is right on Crickets avenue, so it is close to the action of that area.
Located in the Buddy and Maria Elena Holly Plaza, just across the street from the Buddy Holly Center, this is another must-visit for Buddy Holly and music fans. The plaza is well laid out, with the life-like “heroic-sized” statue of Buddy Holly as the centerpiece. The Walk of Fame is the wall that stands behind the statue to recognize famous artists and musicians from West Texas (past and current). Each inductee has a plaque, and it is interesting to see who is included here. All in all, an excellent tribute to Buddy Holly and other artists.
The area where the statue is located is very nicely isolated and has a large open grass area in a rather urban setting. The bronze statue is well done and looks strikingly like Buddy during one of his performances.
well done museum and outdoor memorial, fun photo op in front or on top of a giant replica of his famous eyeglasses, nice gift shop, worth a stop if you are in the area!
